This trail travels alongside Lake Dunstan on the opposite side of the lake to the road that travels between Cromwell and Clyde.
The engineering involved to create this trail is stunning with clip-ons attached to the rockface in places, the Hugo Suspension Bridge plus a very good trail surface throughout the ride.

Location
The Junction Lookout
Meet at the Cromwell Junction Lookout. This is a large circular drive in lookout area. You will see a black Executive Mercedes Sprinter waiting to issue you with your e-bikes. If you are leaving a parked vehicle close-by please park it on the road.

A must do in Central Otago - We were very nervous about doing this ride, but we spoke to Luke and he assured us we would be fine. We are in our 60s and we are so proud of ourselves for doing this. It was an amazing ride and the Ebikes were perfect. Luke looks after you all day and he was waiting at the end to take the bikes off us and load them onto the trailer and sent us off for a drink. If you’re not sure about this ride use these people as the bikes were light and easy to use and the support is awesome. Thank you, Luke.

Great Experience - The Lake Dunstan trail ride was great fun, very scenic, and well organized. Our guide Lori gave us all the info up front on how and where to ride, and met us along the way and at the finish, and was helpful, friendly and encouraging. The bikes were excellent, and the trail was very clear in terms of directions.

Great day out - We had a great day experiencing the Lake Dunstan Trial, followed by the boat trip back to Cromwell. The tour was very well organised, the equipment was in great condition and the operators were local, professional and knowledgeable.

Wonderful Dunstan Cycleway - David was very knowledgeable and made us feel comfortable riding ebikes for the first time. Trail was beautiful and we enjoyed the whole day immensely.

Wonderful day - put it on your bucket list! nzbiketrails - thank you! - Brilliant day out - highly recommend Dave and his team. Excellent bikes and some good info on central Otago to go along with the stunning views. The cheese scones at the winery are to be recommended !! Take the boat trip afterwards too - you wont be disappointed.

Outstanding day of biking, superb service and hospitality from David at nzbiketrails. - We had an amazing day riding the Dunstan Trail. David at NZBikeTrails was an outstanding host. All the gear was first-class, his briefing clear and overall hospitality fantastic. We didn't have to worry about anything on the day, we just focused on having fun! Cromwell to Clyde ride. - What a great day out. David makes sure you have a fun and enjoyable day with a strong focus on safety. The ebikes made the ride so comfortable and as novice riders we did it easily. The 41km distance has amazing views of water, hills, peaks and flat runs. Along the way you can grab a coffee and burger from boats moored in a bay. The township of Clyde was a pleasant surprise. David’s commentary on the area helped us use our time wisely. Would highly recommend NZ Bike Trails. Plan to do the Hawea to Wanaka next time 👍🏼👍🏼
