- Museo Historico UNC Manzana Jesuitica - The Jesuit Block (Spanish: Manzana Jesuítica) is perhaps the most notable, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2000. It comprises a collection of 17th-century buildings, including the Colegio Nacional de Monserrat and the colonial university campus. Today, the campus is part of the historical museum of the National University of Córdoba, which has been the country’s second-largest university since the early 20th century, following the University of Buenos Aires, in terms of students, faculty, and academic programs.
- Parque Sarmiento - The rapid growth of Córdoba in the late 19th century led to the development of a suburb south of the city, necessitating a large new green space. The neighborhood’s main developer, Miguel Crisol, hired French urbanist Carlos Thays in 1889 to design the park. Thays, newly arrived, planned the park on a plateau overlooking the Cañada Brook to the west and the National University of Córdoba’s colonial campus to the south. This was the first of over a dozen ambitious urban design projects Thays would undertake across Argentina until his death in 1934.
Named Parque Sarmiento in honor of former President Domingo Sarmiento, a prominent advocate for the national educational system born a century earlier, the park and its rose garden quickly became a favored spot for Córdoba’s high society. In 1912, Dr. Juan Ferreyra purchased adjacent land for his Beaux Arts mansion, completed in 1916.
