Unique museum great for all ages - Really unique museum with lots to see and do. Beautiful exhibits that are really eye-catching (even for younger kids, it was mind-blowing to realize everything was made out of GLASS!). I recommend starting the trip by signing up for a morning workshop before going through the museum because the hands-on experience gives you a different perspective when viewing glass works of art. We booked the workshops online the day before to get the time slot we wanted (may want book earlier if you are going on a weekend.) They will ship what you make to your house (for a additional fee.) The demos (check out glass-breaking!) are interesting to watch and the exhibits range from art history to chemistry, science, and modern technology and advancements. Huge giftshop and decent food court with more than your typical selection of fast food. We went on a Tuesday afternoon and spent about 4 hours there (including the workshop.) If you want to make it a day trip you can head into the Gaffer District for shopping and food.

I had not been since I... - I had not been since I was a kid. There was a lot more this time and the art was truly beautiful! My husband walks with a cane and has some trouble getting around. Because we were there on a weekday the spaces were less packed but the facility itself is laid out wonderfully and gave him lots of easy access to resting places and the whole expedience was relaxed and unhurried.

Where Glass Comes to Life! - Don't confuse the Corning Museum of Glass with the place where CorningWare was made—they're not the same! This museum is absolutely fascinating and celebrates the art, science, and innovation of glass. From live glassblowing demonstrations to immersive experiences, you're surrounded by everything glass. The exhibitions are incredible, but my favorite was Innovations—it showcases the remarkable creativity and technological breakthroughs that glass has made possible. Whether you love art, history, or science, this museum is well worth the visit.

Great mix of art and live shows. - Located in downtown Corning just off I-86. Large, free parking lot with free shuttle to museum. The museum is only 2 blocks from the parking lot so probably faster to walk unless you have mobility issues. Admission is $25 for adults, $22 for age 62 and up and 17 and under are free. Admission good for 2 consecutive days. There are guided tours available but we did not do this so we cannot review. You will get a map and a listing of show times and their locations. Most shows are included in admission except the build your own glass workshop. If you get lost or have questions there are guides everywhere that can help you. Bathrooms are convenient throughout the museum. We did 4 shows and they were all excellent. There are 2 glass blowing shows where craftsmen make intricate glass pieces while an annoucer explains the process. There us a glass breaking demonstration which explains a lot about the physical properties if glass. This show is popular with kids as they ask for a youngster from the audience to help with the show. There is also a flame working glass demo where the artist will make a piece based on an audience members drawing. Most shows last about 30 minutes. Try to be at any show at least 10 minutes early so you get a seat, there are tv monitors at the shows that let you a have a good view even from the back row. There are also several galleries including modern art, which was interesting and baffling and the history of glass which tells the story of glass from ancient Egypt to modern times. Both galleries are huge and you can spend hours in each and it can be information overload. There are a couple smaller galleties that have rotating collections. There is a small cafe which we did not visit so we cannot review. There is a large gift shop which has everything from expensive original glass art to souveniers and cookware. Overall this is a fascinating museum and we spent all day here, plan on minimum 5 or 6 hours if you want to see all the shows and have time for the galleries. I would say this is best for kids 10 and up, young kids will be bored. We stayed at the Staybridge suites which is right next door and super convenient to get to museum.

Perfect Saturday afternoon. - The museum was a very interesting and informative way to spend a Saturday afternoon. From watching expert craftsmanship in creating items from molten glass, to the exhibits outlining the history of Corning, to the evolution of glass itself. Then the exhibits of glass craftsmanship and artistic expression on display was inspirational and profound.

Corning Museum of Glass. - Great demonstrations and displays of glass used in numerous applications. Definitely enjoyed our visit.

Nice time on a rainey day - You can park in the main lot and take the free shuttle around and to the museum. Entrance was $22 for Srs (I believe). There were many interesting displays. We went on a rainey day. It was better than I was expecting. The place is quite big. There is a large souvenir shop and a Cafe. They also do demonstrations.

make your own glass - This was supposed to be the highlight of a trip to upstate NY. We were looking forward to the make your our glass; glass blowing. It was $38 pp + $25 shipping, and we were 4 people. After being instructed to be on time, and then waited another half an hour, finally we picked out the design and color, it was just stand there and watch. Our participation was just to blow air into the molten glass. It was a disappointment. We could have bought glass ornaments in the "overblown" gift shop for much less.

Take a picture of your TripAdvisor reservation, because their system doesn't always work. - The pre-purchased TripAdvisor ticket never arrived at Corning Glass Museum, they had no record of me. Thank God I took a picture of the reservation on my phone, and eventually they felt sorry for me and let me in.
