Sunlit Strolls: Embracing the Outdoors in Corniglia
Corniglia, nestled in the heart of the Cinque Terre, offers a unique blend of natural beauty and cultural richness, making it an ideal destination for families seeking both adventure and relaxation. On April 12th, the weather is perfect for exploring the outdoors, with mild temperatures and clear skies in the morning, gradually becoming partially cloudy by the afternoon. This is the perfect day to embark on the Vernazza to Corniglia Hike, a scenic journey along the Cinque Terre coastline. Available from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, this family-friendly trail promises breathtaking views, historic charm, and a wealth of natural beauty.
As you traverse the trail, you’ll be surrounded by lush green hills, crystal-clear waters, and the iconic terraced vineyards that define the region. The hike offers a chance to discover the tranquil charm of the Church of St. Margaret of Antioch and the historic ruins of Doria Tower, both of which provide a serene escape from the rush of contemporary life. The picturesque village of Vernazza, with its stunning waters and lively, colorful houses, is a must-see for those seeking a quintessential Italian coastal adventure. The trail culminates in Corniglia, perched atop a promontory, offering panoramic vistas of the Italian Riviera that are well worth the climb.
“Soaking up the scenery and culture: private walking tour of Vernazza and Riomaggiore - We truly loved our private tour! Matteo was so knowledgeable about the history, and the fauna of the region. When I told him we planned to walk the newly opened Via dell’Amore from Riomaggiore to Manarola, he asked if we’d like to change our tour from doing Vernazza to Corniglia, to Vernazza to Riomaggiore! Fabulous! We started at a church in Vernazza and Matteo took us through narrow alleyways and up steps between houses telling us about how the buildings were made as we went. We took a local train to Riomaggiore with his help then toured Riomaggiore, climbing hills and seeing the sea from far above! He even recommended our favorite restaurant of the trip for lunch, Rio Bistrot, overlooking the Ligurian Sea! We enjoyed the six-course tasting menu with local wines and they accommodated our gluten-free friends with a tweaked wonderful gf tasting menu. We enjoyed it so much we skipped the Via dell’Amore (yet another reason to return!). A fabulous start to our day!!!” - Reviewed on 2024-09-18

“Best day we spent in Italy - Out of our entire ten-day Italian vacation, this was our favorite day. Antonella is so much fun and she is also an excellent driver- not easy to drive in Cinque Terre! It is an action-packed day including hiking and a ferry ride so definitely dress comfortably. This place needs to be seen to be believed. It is like a fairy tale. The lunch is wonderful, great food and endless white wine. Lots of time to explore on your own and try out the gelato or the local cuisine. We could not recommend more (and hope you have Antonella as your guide!)” - Reviewed on 2024-09-22
