Eye opening experience in the Rocinha Favela - We met Ze Roberto, our young guide, at the entrance to the Favela. He had arranged an Uber to get us there from our hotel. Then came the shock, as he said we had to get on the back of motor bikes to take us up into the Favela. The ride was great fun, if a bit hairy at times. Ze Roberto was excellent throughout and put my wives mind at ease. We felt safe throughout the tour. Ze Roberto lived in the Favela and was able to give us so much information about life there. Initially, we were unsure about doing the tour as "entitled" Europeans, but we are so glad we did as we learnt so much from the experience. It made you feel humble seeing the effort some people were putting into their day to day living. We had taken a few gifts for the children, which were well received.

Excellent tour - We had a great tour of the Favela with Roberto our guide / he was so informative and as he lived in the Favela was able to give us so much information about life there. We felt very safe doing the tour and saw so much of the local community. To get to the top of the Favela we went on the back of motorbikes which was exciting but not for the faint hearted ! A great tour and would highly recommend to see a different side of Rio away from the city and beaches.

One of the best tours I’ve ever done! 🙌 - Exploring Rocinha with Favela Brothers was an unforgettable experience — safe, super informative, and so much fun. José made the whole tour engaging and authentic from start to finish. Highly recommend if you’re in Rio! 🇧🇷✨

In depth Personalized Favela Tour - Our guide Roberto was amazing. He was very knowledgeable about the history and culture of the Rocinha favela and demonstrated that with his highly personalized tour for me and my wife. We saw many things in the community and were engaged in conversation throughout the whole tour! We're not the typical gringo tourists just wanting a photo opportunity and we chose the FavelaBrothers for understanding why we had chosen to take a Favela Tour. I would highly recommend this tour to others who want a more personalised tour without joining the huge tour buses with a gazillion gringos. Again, highly rated Roberto and his friends Anderson and Johnny! We would do this again.

See Rio from a different angle, that of real life - Really our favorite of our visit to Rio. Our guide Gilvan was excellent. Lots of information about real life in the favelas. Visit several corners, alleys, community projects and attractions. In addition to great views. Riding a motorcycle taxi also an entire experience. Visiting a favela in Rio, absolutely a must.

I highly recommend the tour in the Rocinha! - I loved my experience at Rocinha. We attended an absolutely amazing capoeira show and even learned to dance samba. Our guide, Gabriela, was extremely friendly and welcoming, showed us the favela and shared immense information about the projects that are underway. I highly recommend!

Cancelled last moment - The trip was canceled 15 min before it was supposed to start. We were already on the way to the meeting pint. I was waiting for a contact number of the guide the whole night, kept messaging for details. Eventually the day was spiked coz this was supposed to be the plan and he said he will refund the money. Still waiting for refund but it’s fine comparing to spoiled day.
