Copacabana Beach - Known as one of the world’s most renowned and stunning beaches, Copacabana Beach boasts a lively atmosphere with vibrant and fun-loving people. The tour will commence from Copacabana Beach after the pick-up.
-
Morro da Urca - Standing at 220 meters or 722 feet, Morro da Urca is the first stop for the cable car heading to Sugarloaf Mountain. From its summit, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of various city landmarks, including Botafogo and Flamengo beaches, Corcovado with the Christ the Redeemer statue, Guanabara Bay, downtown Rio, Santos Dumont Airport, Governador Island, Niterói, the Rio-Niterói Bridge, and in the distance, the Serra do Mar and Dedo de Deus peak.
-
Sugarloaf Mountain - Rising 396 meters or 1300 feet above sea level, Sugarloaf Mountain offers some of the most stunning views of Rio de Janeiro, truly showcasing why Rio is called “The Wonderful City.”
-
Guanabara Palace - Constructed around 1853 for merchant Machado Coelho in a neoclassical style, the palace was acquired by the imperial government in 1865 for Princess Isabella and the Count of Eu. Architect José Maria Jacinto Rebelo made modifications, including planting a hundred palm trees to enhance the grandeur of the access road. In 1889, the Republican government seized the building, and it underwent restoration in 1908 under Francisco Marcellino de Souza Aguiar and landscape architect Paul Villon, adopting an eclectic style. Since 1960, the palace has belonged to the state government of Rio.
-
Carioca Aqueduct - Located in the Lapa neighborhood, the Carioca Aqueduct is often referred to as Arcos da Lapa by locals. Since the late 19th century, it has served as a bridge for a popular tram connecting the city center with the Santa Teresa neighborhood uphill, known as the Santa Teresa streetcar.
-
Escadaria Selaron - The next stop is the Escadaria Selarón, a vibrant tiled staircase created by self-taught Chilean artist Jorge Selarón. After traveling the world, Selarón settled in Rio in 1983, living in a small house opposite the neglected stairway linking Lapa and Santa Teresa. He covered all 215 steps with tiles sourced from Rio’s urban areas or donated by visitors worldwide. Since 1990, Selarón has laid over 2000 tiles, choosing green, yellow, and blue as the main colors, reflecting the Brazilian flag: unique pieces as a “tribute to the Brazilian people.” The staircase has been featured in numerous music videos, including “Beautiful” by Snoop Dogg and Pharrell Williams in 2002.
-
The Metropolitan Cathedral of Saint Sebastian - Continuing through the city, visitors will see the Lapa Arches, Lavradio Street, and Avenida Chile. The tour includes a visit to the cone-shaped Metropolitan Cathedral, a significant landmark and modern art masterpiece in Brazil. Its architecture, inspired by the Mayan pyramids of Mexico, is believed to bring worshippers closer to God. Four stained glass windows stretch from floor to ceiling, forming a cross at the top, and the acoustics are remarkable.
-
Parque Nacional da Tijuca - The Tijuca Forest, or Floresta da Tijuca, is a tropical rainforest covering 3.5% of Rio de Janeiro, about 11 times the size of Central Park in New York. The tour will proceed to Tijuca Forest, stopping at Paineiras to board official National Park Authority vehicles to reach the top of Corcovado Hill, where the Christ the Redeemer Statue stands.
-
Corcovado - Christ the Redeemer - From Corcovado Hill’s summit, visitors can admire the Christ the Redeemer statue, standing 38 meters or 125 feet tall, made of reinforced concrete and covered in a mosaic of triangular soapstone tiles. The location also offers some of the city’s most stunning views.
-
Mirante Dona Marta - If visibility is poor at Corcovado’s summit, an alternative stop will be made at Mirante Dona Marta, offering one of the city’s most incredible views and securing its status as one of Rio de Janeiro’s most visited tourist attractions.
-
Sao Bento Monastery - The city’s oldest monastery, featuring a Golden Church.
-
Maracana Stadium - The world’s most famous stadium.
-
Sambodromo da Marques de Sapucai - The stadium for the Carnaval parade.
