• Pont yr Afanc - Explore an abandoned underground slate mine following the old quarryman’s footsteps, with various optional challenges along the way, including; climbing, an abseil, a short tyrolean/ zipline and a short boat crossing. All of which can be avoided by scrambling around.

This is an authentic experience with the only changes to the mine being the addition of safety anchors where necessary, as such, it is most similar to caving with the only lights being those on your headtorches (provided).

There will be options to learn about history and processes that created these caverns and tunnels, for those that are interested. If you’ve been underground before, get in touch, we have a number of underground adventures to keep you coming back for more.

This activity is very popular with families and school groups, but we also guide a number of couples and adult groups. There is about a 30minute walk up hill to approach this mine and at the end of the trip you’ll emerge near the top of the mountain and hopefully have lovely views walking down.

All under 18’s must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian.

This adventure offers a genuine exploration of an abandoned mine, featuring optional challenges such as climbing, abseiling, a Tyrolean traverse (short zipline), and a brief boat crossing.

The experience remains authentic, with safety anchors being the only modifications made where needed. It closely resembles caving, with the only illumination coming from the provided headlamps.
