Delve into the wonders of Galle, the flagship city of Sri Lanka’s Southern Province. Its claim to fame amongst tourists is its World Heritage Site - the 300-year-old Dutch Fort. However, the town is not short of other historical structures to marvel at. A famed attraction, the Udawalawe National Park, guarantees an elephant encounter on each game journey. Get acquainted with exotic animals and birds inhabiting this celebrated safari park, including roaming elephants and sometimes a leopard. With congregations of elephants, wild buffalo, sambar, spotted deer, and giant squirrels, this national park of Sri Lanka is amongst the country’s best. In terms of elephant-spotting, Uda Walawe frequently outdoes several renowned East African national parks. The lightly vegetated park spans over the 308.2-sq-km Uda Walawe Reservoir. Despite its sparse vegetation, its stark beauty prevails, and spotting animals becomes easier due to the lack of dense vegetation.
