• Coeur D’Alene Jewett House - Our journey begins at the Jewett House, a stunning lakefront residence constructed in 1915 by the timber industry for a plant manager at a nearby mill. This exquisite home not only boasts breathtaking views of Lake Coeur d’Alene but also offers a glimpse of the renowned 14th hole of the golf course, the world’s only floating green. The beachfront of this magnificent home is now public property, a beloved spot for locals, and we will guide you on how to access it while avoiding the crowds. After leaving the Jewett House, we will travel along Lakeshore Drive, lined with beautiful old mansions and offering incredible lake views.
• McEuen Park - Coeur d’Alene is home to many beautiful parks, with McEuen Park being one of the largest. We will explore the park, located at the base of Tubbs Hill. The park features active osprey nesting boxes, and deer are often seen roaming the hill. We will pause at the Adventures of Mudgy and Millie trailhead, inspired by a popular children’s storybook, which has been brought to life with this 2.5-mile hiking trail. We will also stop at the Fallen Officer memorial and waterfall for a brief break and photo opportunity.
• Coeur d’Alene Resort Spa - We will tour the Coeur d’Alene Resort, recently voted the best lakefront resort in the country. The resort features the world’s longest free-floating wooden boardwalk, nearly a mile long and open for exploration. Each year, the resort plants 30,000 Tango Red geraniums, adding vibrant red hues to the grounds.
• Coeur d’Alene City Park and Independence Point - After departing the resort, we will join the Centennial Trail to ride through City Park. Originally known as Blackwell Park, it was built by lumber baron Frederick Blackwell in the early 1900s. In the 1920s-1930s, the park attracted up to 100,000 visitors over a weekend, drawn by the botanical gardens and lakefront views. Now called City Park, it is popular with visitors for its large sandy beachfront, ideal for sunbathers, and is a favored spot for July 4th fireworks and concerts.
• Coeur d’Alene Carousel - The Coeur d’Alene Carousel, built in 1922 in New York, features hand-carved, hand-painted ponies and chariots, resembling a moving piece of art. Initially part of a traveling carnival, the carousel found a new home at Playland Pier Amusement Park in Coeur d’Alene in 1942, remaining there until 1975 when a fire destroyed the pier. Remarkably, the carousel was removed before the fire! Now over 100 years old, it has been fully restored to its original beauty, offering a nostalgic journey back in time. The carousel also includes hand-painted artwork by local artists depicting Coeur d’Alene’s history.
• North Idaho Centennial Trail - The Centennial Trail is a 23-mile-long paved pathway popular with cyclists, joggers, and walkers. The trail begins at Higgins Point and winds through Coeur d’Alene, along the shores of Lake Coeur d’Alene, and up the Spokane River to the Washington State border. We will explore various sections of the Centennial Trail to appreciate all the beauty it offers.
