Outstanding Guatapé Day Trip with Ecoventure - This was an incredibly well-designed and memorable day trip organized by Ecoventure, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Colombia from the U.S. who wants a rich mix of culture, nature, food, and local insight—all in one day.
The itinerary was perfectly balanced. We started with a coffee farm tour, which was genuinely fascinating. You learn the entire process from cherry to cup, get hands-on picking coffee berries, and experience the aroma and flavor of freshly roasted and ground coffee. Even if you’ve done coffee tastings before, this felt authentic and educational—we learned a lot.
Next was the climb up El Peñol Rock. The 700+ steps are definitely a workout, but there’s no rush. We took our time, and the panoramic views at the top were absolutely worth it.
Afterward, our guide Gabriel took us to a fantastic local restaurant—simple, lively, and delicious, with food straight off the grill. It felt like a place locals actually eat, which we appreciated.
The afternoon included a relaxing 30-minute boat ride on the Guatapé reservoir, where we saw impressive lakeside homes and learned about the area, followed by free time in Guatapé town to explore the colorful streets, do a little shopping, and soak in the atmosphere.
It’s a full day, but we never felt rushed. The Ecoventure team consistently encouraged us to go at our own pace, which made the experience comfortable and enjoyable. If you’re looking for a thoughtfully organized, high-quality day trip that truly lets you experience the region, this one delivers.

The best way to experience Guatapé? A private tour + a helicopter ride 🔥 - Guatapé is a charming town on its own, but when you explore it privately, without the rush, it becomes even more magical.
We wandered through the colorful streets, listened to stories, stopped wherever we wanted, and enjoyed the views at our own pace.
And then the helicopter.
That’s when Guatapé reveals itself at 200%.
The massive reservoir, hundreds of green islands, and El Peñol in all its power ✨

Amazing experience ! Wonderful tour guide !!! - OMG what an amazing day we just had from beginning to end : it surpassed my expectations .
Paragliding above the giant waterfalls was breathtaking. My instructor made me feel really safe and the ride was smooth and enjoyable .
We had opted to do also the Guatapé and Peñol tour and did not regret : the view from the top of the Peñol is magnificent and totally worth walking up the 700 stairs. And the town of Guatapé is simply a little gem with an explosion of beautiful colors.
But what really made this experience superb was having Fabian as our tour guide.
Knowledgeable, friendly, kind!
Going above and beyond what was part of the tour to make us happy, teach us about a country that he loves and make sure that we had a pleasant and instructive time !!!
Really Fabian, my husband and I cannot thank you enough for a day full of feel good vibes that we will for sure always Remember.

So fun!! - This was a great tour! We originally booked the paragliding tour but unfortunately the weather wasn't in our favor so we weren't able to do it. However, Julian was able to get us an ATV tour instead! It was so cool to see the countryside of Guatapé and we got to go on a cool bridge too. Overall it was a great tour and I'm grateful to Julian for making sure we got to have a fun experience even when our first plans didn't work out.

Awesome trip - After our great experience with Fabian on the zipline hammock tour, we decided to book another activity with him - great decision! 🙌🏻
After the 2hr drive from Medellin we climbed up the peñol, walked through Guatape including some cool places off the beaten track (s/o Fabian!) and then had a tasty lunch and went back.
This was a fun experience and Fabian was great at giving us a special and personal tour despite the tourist crowds in Guatape.

Unforgettable!!! - We booked a last-minute trip with Ecoventure, and it was an amazing decision! Fabian, our guide, made the day unforgettable with his knowledge and enthusiasm. We started early at the stunning Rock of Guatapé, where Fabian shared fascinating details about the history and the incredible views from the top. Afterward, we explored the colorful town of Guatapé and enjoyed some delicious local coffee. The day ended with a visit to a replica of the old El Penol, offering a unique perspective.
Fabian’s attention to detail and thoughtful approach made the experience even more enjoyable. Thanks to Ecoventure and Fabian, we ended the year with unforgettable memories. We’ll definitely be back to explore more and look forward to reconnecting in the future!

Don’t miss out on this opportunity! Memories won’t soon be forgotten! - Start to finish this tour was top notch! Diego our guide is an amazing person. He is personable, so friendly and just a genuine human. He came to get us at our hotel on time, actually early, but we were ready. He was our photographer and videographer which was great! This was mine and my husband’s first time paragliding so we were a bit nervous. Diego and our pilots Raul and Santiago made us feel safe and comfortable. It’s worth it to pay the $60,00 COP for GoPro. The quality is great and they upload it to your phone for you! El Penol and Guatapé were also fantastic! It was super convenient to do all 3 excursions in one day! It’s quite a drive from Medellin. About an hour and a half. The drive is beautiful! This tour is not so overwhelming and long that you’re beat at the end of it, and you will have Diego all to yourself keeping you entertained. I cannot recommend this tour enough! Go Ecoventure’s and request Diego! You won’t regret it!!!

Best excursion and Best guide! - What an amazing day out with Fabian! He was simply the BEST guide - full of life and information, super friendly and his English was so good - we had fun helping each other learn more words in English / Spanish. The excursion was so fun and so reasonably priced. He was amazing with my 11 yr old and even taught her some magic! We will be back!

5 star Guatape and Coffee Experience - What an amazing day! We rebooked with Ecoventure (Day 1 was ATV and Whitewater rafting) a day trip package to Guatape and Coffee experience. 5 start private experience. We did SO much and never felt rushed. Do yourself and your family a favor and book with them. Ask for Diego as your guide, he is the best. Will return! Merino Family

Great nature adventure - Absolutely gorgeous waterfall! Zipline is also an incredible experience. Highly recommend you drink the coffee on the other end of the zipline.
