Highlights

Your Grand Turk sightseeing tour starts at the tram station near the cruise terminal on the southern end of the island. After boarding the open-sided tram, set off on a route that takes you all the way up to Grand Turk’s northern tip.\n\nDuring the tour, your local guide will narrate with fun facts and information about the island, pointing out old churches, inns, cannons, windmills and other historical attractions, and helping you spot wild horses and donkeys. Pass by Governor’s Beach and the Space Capsule on your way to Cockburn Town, where you’ll stop to enjoy a cool drink (not included in tour price) and food tastings by local merchants. You’ll also have the chance to shop for gifts and souvenirs.\n\nThen hop back on the tram to continue north, passing by Her Majesty’s Prison, built in the 1830s, and the National Museum, housed in a colonial building. Travel by Crabtree Park and North Creek on your way to the Grand Turk Lighthouse, perched on the northern end of Grand Turk. Built in 1852, it’s the only lighthouse in the Turks and Caicos. After snapping a few photos, head back down the island.\n\nThe journey through Grand Turk also takes you past the island’s salt ponds, known as ‘salinas.’ These remnants of the country’s old salt industry are now home to flamingos and other tropical birds. As you go by them on the tram, your guide will tell you about the natural formation of the saltwater ponds and about the history of the industry, which dates back to the 1600s.\n\nYour tour ends with return to the tram station.\n\nPoints of Interest\n\n- Island Tram Tours

Great tour guide. Unorganized - It was great until 20 mins into the trip they had to turn back to pick people up. The time said meet at 0900 but ended up not leaving until 0945. Than turned around pick more people up. Than we got to the halfway point and picked up even more people to the point, that they didn’t fit on the tram. Not the tour guides fault doing what he was told. He did great and loved his stories.

A good budget friendly tour - We went in June 2024. Was this tour perfect,? No. But we had a good time. Doug, the owner and tour guide was very knowledgeable. He was very friendly and welcoming. The biggest negative on others reviews was the sound system. The system did crackle some and went out a few times, but all in all, we were able to hear everything he said. The tram motor was loud, but eh, it's a tram. The open air breeze while driving was nice. The view was beautiful. Petting and feeding the donkeys was so much fun for my kids. My frustration was this, Viator said the tour started at 9. We arrived at 850. Then we were told the tour starts at 930. So we sat in the hot sun for 40 minutes waiting to start. Viator also said drinks provided. So we were expecting to get a bottle water. We were a group of 7. I had 2 bottles in my bag, but did have to buy more, since we were out for a long time and it is 🔥 hot on the island. If you're looking for a budget friendly, relaxing way to see the island, this is it!

Great Tour When Things Worked - So, while I think this tour has some great merit in theory, in actuality it falls a bit short. Everyone from the tour company was great. The places the tour takes you is very good and you do get to see a lot while on this 2-hour tour. Unfortunately, a lot of the previous reviews are spot on. During our tour, the tour guide/driver had major issues with the PA system. He had to constantly fumble with the cable and the unit to try and get it to work. Even when he did get it to function, you could hardly hear him the the back of the second tram where we were. Also, shortly after starting the tour, the tram kept stalling. While it did restart each time, it was frustrating to have issues with both the tram engine and the PA system. At one of the stops (the shopping area, which was really nice), the driver had to add some "fluid" to the thank (??). This did seem to help. I'm hoping we did not just run out of gas!! That would not be good. This took away from the tour itself and the beauty of the area. On our way back to the port, the driver was very nice to drop us off at Governors Beach so we could spend several hours there, and then he sent a staff person(??), Carley to pick us up and drive us back to the port which was only like 2 miles away. If Island Tram Tours can resolve these 2 issues, I would give them a 10 out 10. But for now, I would suggest you book this tour knowing that many people have had these similar issues.

A good way to see the island. - Doug was excellent and battled with a failing PA and an unpredictable engine. The tour certainly delivered on a very comprehensive tour of the island and is good value for money. It is a long walk from the cruise pier to where you catch the tram which could be difficult if walking distances is a problem for you. If you want a tour of the island then look no further.

RIPPED OFF BY ISLAND TOURS - I made reservations and paid for two island tram tours for April 26, 2024. When we arrived at the pick up location, we were informed the tour had been canceled due to mechanical issues and a refund would be issued within 3-5 business days. Since that time I have contacted Doug Fenimore numerous times by email and told “he’s working on it”. My last contact with him was on 5/13/24. Since then I have heard nothing and have had no reply’s to my emails. I’ve tried calling the phone numbers listed on my reservation confirmation and tour website and found the numbers are no longer in service. I would DEFINITELY NOT consider this tram tour company when visiting Grand Turk!

Disappointed in Grand Turk - We booked the tour and were told in the confirmation email to be at the location by 9:00 a.m. We waited until 9:30 a.m. and there was a no-show. We got assistance from some local golf cart tour guides with the phone number to contact the company. Since the cruise ships were not going to be in dock until 11:00 a.m. the tour would not begin until then. We received no notification of the change of time and my group had additional reservations for the afternoon, so we were not able to go on this tour. The company did process the credit card credit for the cancellation.
