Great guide beautifully scenery
First, the overall experience was good. When we arrived very early we parked where we thought was the correct spot because of the sign that pointed to a picnic table identifying it as the spot where the tour people should meet. Later we found out that it was not correct. Could you make your signage a little clearer. We also found that on the boat it was very difficult to see what was going on due to people facing all directions and standing up in front of you on the boat. Do you have one boat where everyone faces in the same direction.? If you do, we would like to be able to book that excursion on a future trip. We certainly appreciate the volunteer hours that your people provide. Thank you so much. I am very happy that I have become a member of the conservancy. Joyce Viets
Betty was a great guid very enformative and pleasant. Great sunset and lots of birds.
Vessel, captain, nature speaker all outstanding
Knowledgeable naturalist and boat captain. Perfect weather!
Very enjoyable time. Great Capt. great naturalist. sunset and birds. The best
We enjoyed our boat outing of Rookery Bay seeing beautiful scenery; great photo opportunities; and saw lots of birds. The Captain, Jerry was very nice and did a wonderful job of driving the boat. He would go slow enough that we could capture some nice images of the birds. Mary, our Naturalist was very informative. Both were very friendly, helpful and seem to really care for the individuals on the boat having an enjoyable trip. Mary did a wonderful job of explaining Rookery Bay and how important it is to the environment of the area as well as how Red Tide and the Hurricane has affected the area. She explained how we as individuals could help in preserving the area and to help the wildlife. You could tell both, Jerry and Mary were dedicated to the cause of Rookery Bay and protecting it from further destruction. I appreciate the clear and precise communication from your office after I had purchased the tickets. I liked how you sent an email the day before we came and I was able to click on the link with my phone and the directions went directly to google maps! I was also very glad I had made a copy of the directions because when we arrived to the location, we drove to the gravel area and were waiting next to the picnic table where there is a sign saying 'wait here for the boat tour'. We were a little early but noticed after 5. min no one else was coming to this area. At that time I pulled out my copy of instructions and read them, seeing where we were to drive though the gate and park on the grass and make our way down a path to the dock. Glad I had copied the letter, as we would have been waiting at the table still....so that might be a little misleading if you don't make notice of the instructions. We will enjoy bringing guests in the future for more boat rides. Thank you!
Heron provided outstanding commentary throughout the evening, supplemented by the photos and artifacts in her collection. She involved the passengers and we all felt we were contributing to the evening. She had an excellent sense of when to expect and so prepared us for our experiences. Oh, and the sunset was incredible and the rookery itself amazing what with the steady stream of birds arriving constantly. We'll be back.
The naturalist made and the captain made the trip very comfortable and provided a great tour experience. Our naturalist is very well versed in the topics for the tour and presents very well. She kept things lively and informative throughout the tour. I would, and do, recommend this tour as well as the earlier day tour.
The docent was excellent. In addition, both the docent and captain waited to see that we left the parking lot without problems.
Capt. Marty and Sandy were very knowledgeable and we all learned a lot. It was s perfectly beautiful night and we enjoyed being on the water. Lots to see and the sunset was beautiful.
Very well organized and a superb instructor.
The captain and naturalist are always very polite, knowledgable, and most helpful to the needs of the guests. We have taken guests on this cruise three times and will continue to do so.
The boat was comfortable. Our guide was so knowledgeable. The scenery was fantastic.
Very informative and charismatic guide. Skipper was great! Enjoyed immensely!
Pilot and guide worked together to spot and identify wildlife. Pilot maneuvered boat for best viewing/photography. Great placement at Rookery and sunset.
Loved seeing the the rookery and the beautiful sun set. The commentary and explanations of the things we saw was very good.
The Naturalist shared many interesting facts, and I appreciated that the mood was professional and relaxed. The weather was ideal, and the sunset at the rookery island was beautiful. This was my 4th cruise here, and I enjoyed it.
It was a lovely cruise and John our guide and Marty the Captain gave us lots of info about Rookery Bay and the birds
Great cruise to become familiarized with Rookery Bay. The boat ride itself was very smooth. The actual rookery was an unexpected bonus.
Knowledgeable staff dedicated to us having a great experience. Beautiful sunset. Got to see a great variety of sea birds and wildlife. Great eco learning experience, especially for someone new to Florida. Excellent!
Have been on several of these. Nature is inspiring. Our Captain was knowledgeable, our naturalist, the same. The birds were the hit of the trip.
Mary was terrific, best I've seen !!!!
The trip was wonderful. Very educational. Dan was great. Beautiful scenery and wildlife - many birds and some dolphins. 2 hours was the perfect amount of time.
Loved it, great night
Really informative and enjoyable time.
Both the captain and the volunteer naturalist enhanced our enjoyment.
The leaders, including two Conservancy workers and the boat Captain were enthusiastic, friendly and knowledgeable. And to make it very special the birds (all thousand) returned to their small island in the bay at sunset. The sunset and the weather joined in to give us the best possible evening.
I take folks visiting from out of town on this trip anytime I can. They ALWAYS have a great reaction to it and always learn more about our area and it's importance to our world!! Every little bit helps make our world a better place. Thank you!
great naturalist, some good wildlife sightings, a perfect sunset.
We have lived in southwest Florida for a number of years and therefore familiar with most of what we saw. This Eco Cruise was a gift. The information the guide provided was very interesting. Rookery Island was amazing. I have to wonder if someone did this in the morning, what would be the highlight?
WE had done the trip before and knew what to expect and it lived up to our expectations.. The weather also cooperated.
Great, calm night on the water. Captain PAUL and docent Dan did a very good job keeping us informed.
Dan, the naturalist, was excellent and really made the trip as interesting as he could. We thoroughly enjoyed his portion of the tour. Unfortunately, there was very little variation in the wildlife we saw - mostly brown pelicans and ospreys. While I understand that this is completely beyond the control of both the captain and naturalist, I couldn’t help but think that the tremendous amount of boat traffic, much of it large boats moving much faster than the legal limit in the area, frightened a lot of birds and other animals away. Rookery Bay is a preserve but it didn’t feel that way. I think perhaps we have been spoiled by similar trips in and around Everglades National Park where the diversity of the sights is far greater and we did not find ourselves repeatedly rocked by the wake of fast-moving vessels.
It was a magical evening, with many sightings of birds, explanations of what we were seeing from a delightful enthusiastic guide and responsive boat driver. We could not have asked for more!
