The leaders, including two Conservancy workers and the boat Captain were enthusiastic, friendly and knowledgeable. And to make it very special the birds (all thousand) returned to their small island in the bay at sunset. The sunset and the weather joined in to give us the best possible evening.
I take folks visiting from out of town on this trip anytime I can. They ALWAYS have a great reaction to it and always learn more about our area and it's importance to our world!! Every little bit helps make our world a better place. Thank you!
great naturalist, some good wildlife sightings, a perfect sunset.
We have lived in southwest Florida for a number of years and therefore familiar with most of what we saw. This Eco Cruise was a gift. The information the guide provided was very interesting. Rookery Island was amazing. I have to wonder if someone did this in the morning, what would be the highlight?
WE had done the trip before and knew what to expect and it lived up to our expectations.. The weather also cooperated.
Great, calm night on the water. Captain PAUL and docent Dan did a very good job keeping us informed.
Dan, the naturalist, was excellent and really made the trip as interesting as he could. We thoroughly enjoyed his portion of the tour. Unfortunately, there was very little variation in the wildlife we saw - mostly brown pelicans and ospreys. While I understand that this is completely beyond the control of both the captain and naturalist, I couldn’t help but think that the tremendous amount of boat traffic, much of it large boats moving much faster than the legal limit in the area, frightened a lot of birds and other animals away. Rookery Bay is a preserve but it didn’t feel that way. I think perhaps we have been spoiled by similar trips in and around Everglades National Park where the diversity of the sights is far greater and we did not find ourselves repeatedly rocked by the wake of fast-moving vessels.
It was a magical evening, with many sightings of birds, explanations of what we were seeing from a delightful enthusiastic guide and responsive boat driver. We could not have asked for more!
Great guide! Overall very interesting!
Our boat captain and naturalist could not have been more knowledgeable. They were in tune with the environment as well as their passengers. This sunset cruise is a “must do” for anyone in the Naples area.
The boat captain was friendly and demonstrated a sense of security and knowledge about his job. The naturalist was informative and answered questions.
Boat overly crowded with people and coolers. Guide (Kathie) quite knowledgeable but overly talkative. There are times in Rookery Bay when it is best to appreciate the beauty in silence.
Very knowledgeable crew. Beautiful area and interesting facts. Comfortable for all ages
The Captain and both Naturalists gave us very interesting info and made the trip enjoyable. We saw lots of wildlife
Excellent experience.., Despite temp and wind, we learned a lot and naturalists were very cordial, knowledgeable and friendly. Thank you, Joyce Weir
It was very informative, interesting and beautiful. The Captain and guide were both great.
Very informative, very comfortable, felt safe, impressed with knowledge of Conservancy naturalist & boat captain.
The guide and crew were very knowledgeable and informative.
One of the Naturalists was super enthusiastic and extremely passionate about her job. The other one was good too, but at times sounded like a first grade teacher with us. Would have loved to have seen more wildlife,, but did see some interesting birds.
nice ride, we see most of the birds around town, but sunset at the rookery island was very special.
Naturalist was very informative & knowledgeable. We learned a lot & saw many different herons, osprey, Eagles, egrets, dolphins & comorants. Amazing this was so close to Marco Island and Naples. A hidden jewel & gorgeous sunset.
Quiet boat ride. Experienced naturalist. Kind help all the way around.
Very beautiful boat ride with lots of wildlife. Excellent tour speaker.
The trip was filled with lots of information about the conservancy. Many birds were pointed out. We saw Rookery Island up close and were able to see an amazing sun set on a beautiful night.
The boat was comfortable. The crew was superb and knowledgeable. Thank you for a lovely Tour. Sandy Schuman
You learn so much about the ecology of the area and the vital role that preservation of the mangrove swamp plays in our survival in SW Florida.
Excellent Naturealist and Captain.
It was a wonderful way to see and learn about the waters of Rookery Bay. Our guides were humorous and informative, hitting all the high spots about the area and the animals/birds/mammals/plants that live in this protected reserve. The sunset was beautiful and it was time well spent. Thank you for a great tour.
Saw lots of wildlife
The Captain and the Naturalist were both very well spoken and very knowledgeable. The microphone worked well which was not the caase in past cruises I was on. We saw many more birds and dolphins than I had seen on previous trips in past years. The specimens passed around to the passengers have been upgraded and are very life like. I know a few were real life specimens. When birds were spotted the Captain went right to that area and gave the passengers good photo opportunities and some time to observe. The beautiful sunset topped off a really nice cruise. It was the best one I have ever been on. I will definitely be taking future friends and visitors on the cruise.
Very informative evening with excellent guides. Only disappointing (other than cloudy evening) factor was the microphone for sound system not being charged. Made it difficult to hear the naturalist much of the time.
The sound system was poor, volunteer naturalist’s voice kept going in and out. Very frustrating to those of us at the other end of the boat. We just gave up trying to follow his dialog.
