Hi, The Classic Bologna Tour is charming and exactly the experience our small group was looking for. Sara our guide was very knowledgeable and charming to spend the day with. This is not to be missed in Bologna!
While the tour was very good I would have preferred to eat in restaurants for that price as opposed to buying from shops and having a picnic.
The guide for the tour was excellent, and we did try many local foods, but this tour left me wanting more. When one comes to visit Italy, especially a place like Bologna, you want to eat! We spent more time talking about food than actually eating food. For example, we went to a shop to understand how different pastas were made, which I found to be very interesting, but I really wanted to taste all of them. Unfortunately, the tour did not include trying pasta (aside from one tortellini, which hasn’t been fully prepared)?!! We also walked through a local market - once again, interesting, but would have enjoyed this more if it had included a tasting. It was an enjoyable day, and I loved the coffee experience, the ragu, the cheeses - definitely lots of great things about it - but I left expecting much more from an experience that I wanted to be really great.
Our guide Elena showed a great knowledge of town and food. Very sympathetic, patient and kind.
Our guide Elena not only told us about the food specialties, but in between she also told us stories about the city. Food was the main thing, but it was nice to hear a little about Bologna as well. The tastings were fun. We had a fun time!
Sara was a very good guide. Friendly & informative.
A delightful and delicious time with our wonderful guide Sara Flammini-highly recommend!
We had an amazing experience. Sara was knowledgeable about the regional foods but also told us much about the history of Bologna. The wonderful places we would have never found on our own and the food was amazing. The size of the group was ideal as we could easily move through the streets and hear what Sara had to say. I would recommend this tour to everyone visiting Bologna, the best way t Taste Bologna.
Our guide was Elena Bonesi. She was extremely personable, knowledgeable and engaging. Her knowledge of the local food scene in Bologna was outstanding. We ate food during the tour that reflected some of the best foods that the region is famous for. Elena explained where the foods came from and how to determine the best quality of wines, meats , cheese , pastas, sweets and vinegars . We ate and drank enough for an entire day ! Our small intimate group became fast friends during our 4 hour tour. A must do for those traveling to Bologna!
This excursion was much better than I expected. We discovered really nice things in Bologna. Elena our guide did a really good job. She told a lot about Bologna and food.
I doubted long to book this tour due to the price. It is more than worth it in my opinion.
Sara was an excellent guide and took us to many places we would not normally go to. Full of great information about Bologna. A great tour as an intro to Bologna and its food. Highly recommended.
Not only was the food tasting great but guides local knowledge made the whole experience more enjoyable
This was just a wonderful introduction to Bologna and regional specialties. Sara was very informative about all things food and a touch of history as well. All the food selections were superb and much enjoyed. The only suggestion I might have is your attendees be given a list of places visited or a map. I wanted to go back and visit a couple of places but I had no idea how to find them. I did go back and find a couple of them though and when I told them I had come with the tour I was very well received. I’m taking home some bottles of vino!!!
Caterina was an amazing guide and host. She was extremely knowledgeable and got us to discover areas of Bologna that we would have never known about. The food we tasted was also really good and offered a great variety.
We had a great time on the tour. It was the first time our family took a food tour so we didn’t know what to expect. It was a great mix of culture, history and of course the food! I would definitely recommend it!
Sara was great and very knowledgeable. She made the group feel connected and engaged us directly as well as creating a fun environment for us to get to know each other. As a solo traveler on this tour it was very much appreciated. I will recommend this tour to everyone I know that is coming to Bologna.
My second time doing this tour. I will do it again, Andrea was so knowledgeable and precise. One of my favorite days in Italy.
The tour was just perfect! It was great to have a small group as the experience felt a lot more personal, especially when chatting around a table filled with food! The food itself was AMAZING and it was so great to get the history and other background information about the different types of food, local sellers and stores. It gave so much more meaning to the food and made it all the more delicious! It also made me think about where the food was coming from (locations, processes, quality etc.). Sara was full of knowledge and passion, and was very professional all the while giving the tour a personal touch. All of these things made me appreciate what I was eating a whole lot more and made for a fabulous tour!
We had a great experience with your tour and special thanks to Sara !
Our guide was knowledgeable, organized and charming. Food was good and other guests on the tour were friendly. Can’t think of any way it could be improved!
Caterina was a delightful guide; we had a lovely four hours with her. Even though she must have taken this tour so often she made us feel as if we were her first and only guests. We learned a lot about the food of Bologna and of Italy, which greatly added to our appreciation and enjoyment of the rest of our stay in Bologna. Margaret and I are now determined to try and make our own pasta when we return home although it will never be as good as that of Bologna! I would highly recommend this tour to our friends and family when they visit Bologna.
Our Guide Elena was terrific. A Bologna native who loves her city and its history. She started our tour with a brief history of the region and the city. Then we began eating our way through Bologna. She took us for coffee to get our day started off on the right foot. Then we walked to open markets and she explained the foods we were seeing and why some are unique to Bologna. We even had the opportunity to watch tortellini being made and had a lesson in making it ourselves. Then we went to shops and gathered the lunch portions she had ordered and took our picnic to an old locals Osteria. So delicious and enjoyable. Last stop was artisan gelato tasting at Oggi. She was great in explaining the difference between real gelato and the mass produced ones - that I will never be able to eat again :) I was sorry to say goodbye at the end. It was a wonderful day!
Sometimes when I visit a new city, I walk around for hours and always feel like I'm missing something. I often feel as though I'm walking away from the good part. This time in Bologna, my wife and I decided to go on this tour. We wanted to make sure that we were not missing out on interesting things. The tour guide, Elena, was charming and funny. She told us many entertaining stories about the history of the area, and about the origins of Bolognese cuisine. She was organized and knew exactly how long to stop at places in order for us to stay interested. Some of the places we went, we would never have been able to find on our own. This was an excellent tour and a great way to spend our day in Bologna.
Very happy with the tour - the insight into local food, the quality of food options, and the general walk around central Bologna.
This was one of the highlights of our trip - Sara was great as was the day! So informative, interesting and delicious!
Sara’s knowledge of both Bologna and of course the amazing Bolognese cuisine. Our tastings were delicious and her recommendations spot on! The gelato was definitely the best I’ve ever eaten in Italy and I lived there for four years! Bologna is magical, relaxed, friendly and a foodie’s dream. Great communication in the run up too. Much appreciated.
Fantastic look at food in Bologna! Host/guide was very knowledgeable!
Sara is very good and experienced guide. She showed us some amazing places and food. We will recommend this to everyone
Overall an enjoyable tour our guide elena was friendly and informative.
We had a great tour with Elena, she was very knowledgeable about the city and places we went. Would highly recommend.
Very good and friendly guide who was very informative about Bologna. On our first day there we discovered a lot about the city as we went along, though particularly about it's food which we really enjoyed. We very much liked the fact that there were lots of different foods to sample at different shops and markets. We liked all the different sections of the tour starting with our hot chocolate and croissants through to lunch at the very atmospheric Osteria del Sole. Will definitely recommend to others.
Sara was very knowledgeable and good at communicating about the wonderful food on offer in Bologna. She coped very well with me being coeliac.
Elena made this tour very interesting (combination between culture & food).
It was a very enjoyable (and delicious!) experience! Thank you!
