The 30-minute drive to the climbing area takes you through some of Christchurch’s most affluent neighborhoods, offering uninterrupted views from the Pacific Ocean to the Southern Alps in the west. The climbing spots are located across the summit of a massive extinct volcano that created Banks Peninsula and Lyttelton Harbour. With over 2,000 established climbing routes, Christchurch ranks as one of the largest and most popular climbing destinations in New Zealand.

The guide will set up the ropes and provide a safety briefing and belay lesson before the first climb. Once everyone is comfortable with the climbing systems, the guide will assess the group’s abilities and set up climbs that are challenging, achievable, and safe.
