- Taylors Mistake - Awaroa / Godley Head Walk - A beautiful black sand surf beach, with quaint little baches is the starting point of our walking track. Your guide will provide walking poles, bags, lunch, snacks and water before you set off.
- Godley Head - Walk around the stunning Godley Head, undoubtedly one of Chrsitchurch’s most beautiful walks. This 8 km loop track will take around 3 hours walking, with lots of time to stop and enjoy the scenery.
It is a well-established track, full of history and beautiful coastal views. You will see Scott’s Hutt, an Antarctic Cabin, WW2 Gun Emplacements, a penguin colony, and visit Boulder Bay, a quaint beach accessible only by foot, where you will enjoy a gourmet picnic lunch.

From Sumner, a brief 10-minute drive takes you to Taylors Mistake Beach, where your walking adventure begins. The 8km trail traces the Crater Rim, the edge of an ancient volcanic caldera, providing stunning views of the rugged Pacific coastline, Pegasus Bay, and the often snow-dusted Southern Alps. Along the route, explore historic WWII coastal defense sites and an Antarctic cabin used for expedition training.
A gourmet picnic lunch is served at a scenic spot with sweeping views. The total walking time is approximately 3-4 hours, including a leisurely 30-minute lunch break, before returning to Christchurch City in the afternoon.
