Tour guide is... - Tour guide is knowledgeable and friendly. Although half of trip was spent on coach, we still got couple of stops along the way just for us to stretch, going to toilet and getting drinks. Lunch was good as well.

Enjoyable day trip with must-see visits to Lake Tekapo and Mt. Cook - Simon was a personable, friendly, and knowledgeable guide for our day trip to Lake Tekapo and Mt. Cook. Even though he grew up in the area and has seen these sights countless times, he had all the enthusiasm and wonder we did in seeing the stunning sights for the first time! He paced out the day very well, expertly navigated the roads with his safe driving, and accommodated the group so we could truly enjoy every stop along the way. The quick stop at Fairlie Bakehouse was worthwhile - delicious pies and prepared lunch before our hike! We appreciated his knowledge of the history and current events of Aotearoa New Zealand as well as his respect for the Māori people and culture. Thank you Simon!

Long but insightful day trip! Takes the stress out of driving a long route if you don’t wish to drive - We did the Mount Cook & Lake Tekapo Day Tour from Christchurch and it was great fun! The pickups were on time, and we had a very nice tour guide who gave us a lot of informative and insightful commentary through the way, and we learnt so much, which we would have ofherwise missed out on had we driven the route ourselves. Learning about places and sights through the lens of a storyteller and nuggets of history, facts and culture makes it all the more worthwhile. The day didn’t feel rushed at all, and we got ample time to do hikes, take pictures, have restroom breaks and also got some time to pick up quick shopping for souvenirs along the way. Lunch was Fairlie was so hearty and delicious! Our guide was extremely safe with his driving and made us all feel very comfortable. It was a long day of driving, guiding, keeping the group together, coordinating and organising our sightseeing - highly commendable how Cheeky Kea puts it altogether. We’ve done tours with them before and I completely trust them with a good experience

Our trip to Mount Cook... - Our trip to Mount Cook and Lake Tekapo was a bit of a journey of contrasts. Simon was an incredibly safe and patient driver, and he did a great job keeping the group together. The food provided was absolutely incredible—truly a standout part of the day! We also loved the hike to the glacier; the scenery was breathtaking. However, due to unexpected roadworks, we arrived late and had to rush through the walk. We would have definitely appreciated more time to spend at Mt. Cook to fully soak in the views. While Simon was professional, we would have also enjoyed a bit more commentary and local information during the drive.

Long Day & Beautiful Views - We very much enjoyed the day. Simon was a great driver and guide. He answered a ton of questions for me and I learned a lot about NZ! The snacks and lunches were really good and the pies at Fairlie Bakehouse were wonderful! We received a water with the snacks and I would have appreciated another water at lunch at least. The views were stunning! The vehicle was a Ford and not a Mercedes that was advertised in Trip Advisor. The seats were a little uncomfortable and at times the road noise was loud. The time crunch to get some of our group to Queenstown controlled the time at stops etc. If it were not for that, I would have liked to stop for some extra photos along the way. A suggestion would be to encourage all to use the toilets at the stop before Mt. Cook despite the cost (1.5/2 dollars) since the toilets at Mt Cook has a long line. There are only 2 anyway and a child locked one of them on the way out so there was only 1 usable toilet. Since time is limited at Mt Cook and you can afford it, we suggest staying a night at the Hermitage Hotel to give extra time in the area and returning the next day.

Nice views but no time - It was great to see Lake Tekapo and Mount Cook, especially when you are travelling by public transport and can't get there. However, too touristy (full) and little time at the places (10 - 45 minutes).

DO NOT DO THIS TOUR. - Whatever you do in New Zealand do not go on this trip. They sell Guaranteed small group (max 15 for a more personal experience) Pre-ordered picnic lunch Tasty kiwi snacks enroute Expert local Kiwi guide with live commentary (English) Hotel pickup and drop-off from 13 central Christchurch locations Transportation in modern Mercedes Sprinter with air conditioning Bottled water throughout the day Free WiFi and USB charging ports on board Reality Small group true, but rammed into the vehicle with literally no space Pre-ordered lunch - highlight of an otherwise diabolical trip - lovely sandwich Not sure what was kiwi about them, but, yes snacks provided Nick was a great tour guide to be fair, knowledgeable and friendly. Pick up true, but if you do go on this tour, only do so as guaranteed first pick up where you can pick from only 2 leg room seats on the van. And here’s the rub. Promised Mercedes Sprinter, delivered Ford Transit that smelt like a back packers jock strap. And the real issue? The nine inches between the edge of one seat and the unforgiving g back of the one in front. Ideal if you are 4 foot six (like the lady sat in the one leg room seat on the van) but not tenable if like me you are over 5 foot 8 inches (6 foot 2 in my case). I spent 8-9 hours with my right leg tucked under itself until I hyper extended my knee ligaments and spent the rest of my holiday on crutches. I mentioned to Nick my predicament and suggested he load the seats according to height and he helpfully told me that he thought at my height I would struggle as last pick up - no way Sherlock. Bottled water all day comprised as one small home filled bottle at the beginning of the trip. Wi-Fi was provided for the first five minutes of every second hour (or there abouts)! And absolutely no sign of charging points anywhere - but no Wi-Fi so perhaps no need? Further you will enjoy Welcome to the heart of your adventure! Mount Cook Village sits at the base of New Zealand's highest peak within the spectacular Mount Cook National Park. At 3,724 meters, Aoraki Mount Cook towers above the surrounding landscape, and the park is home to New Zealand's longest glacier—the Haupapa/Tasman Glacier. Now all this discomfort would surely have been worth the 13 hour trip for the promised views and walk on the glacier? Well, you are on the same island as Mount Cook, which if the clouds part (and they didn’t and very often don’t) can be seen at what I estimate to be 10km distance and the glacier walk? Well if you have a telephoto lens and squint at the right time, that is the minute patch of snow that you can see in the far distance on the frankly unimpressive hikes at the end of the major driving chore. The lakes to be fair are beautiful but packed with tourists taking endless raised two fingered photos and not a patch on the rock flour lakes of Canada. All in all, avoid this trip like the plague or only book it for someone that you really, really dislike
