• Tsukiji Fish Market - The outer Tsukiji Market is a bustling area filled with vendor stalls and shops offering a wide variety of exotic seafood and fish from around the globe. You can also find free sushi and sashimi samples, Japanese kitchen utensils, and experience the lively atmosphere as locals do their daily shopping and stroll around. It’s a chaotic yet authentic place. I’ll guide you through its unique alleys, and you’ll have the chance to try some dishes before we move on to our next spot!
• Ginza - We can reach Ginza, our next destination, either by walking or taking the metro. This shopping district is home to many well-designed and luxurious flagship stores, including the iconic Wako Tower.
• Tokyo Midtown Hibiya - After Ginza, I’ll show you some hidden gems in the Hibiya district, known for its photogenic alleys that exude postwar Tokyo vibes, especially at night. It’s a place where locals gather in the evening to enjoy delicious yakitori in an authentic atmosphere.
• Marunouchi - To get to our next destination, we’ll take the JR line and try some ramen inside the station. This ramen follows the samurai diet, which was primarily vegan. I’ll share some important facts about the station before we head to our next destination, also using the JR line.
• Ueno - Our next stop is one of the most authentic and one of my favorite markets in the city, where you can find almost anything you want—goods, souvenirs, daily items, clothing, spices, teas, and a variety of Asian dishes. The Ameyayokocho Market has been one of the most important markets since the first half of the 20th century, and you’ll soon see why. We’ll also visit Ueno Park, where we can view the market from a hidden spot that has inspired many anime and manga movies.
• Asakusa - Our final destination is in the Taito district, at the Asakusa Temple. But Asakusa is more than just the Sensoji Temple and Skytree Tower. It’s a vibrant district that has been a hub for domestic visitors since the Edo Period. We’ll learn about the area’s origins and stroll around Nakamise Dori, where you might want to grab some Japanese sweets. We’ll also get spectacular views from a special spot I know, so be sure to bring your camera! The tour will end here, but if you’d like to extend it, please let me know!
