- Hakone Shrine / Kuzuryu Shrine Singu - Hakone Shrine (箱根神社, Hakone Jinja) is located at the base of Mount Hakone, along the picturesque shores of Lake Ashi. Nestled within a lush forest, the shrine is marked by its impressive torii gates, with one prominently situated in the lake and two others along the main street of Moto-Hakone. A scenic path leads from the torii gate in Lake Ashi, ascending through lantern-lined steps in the forest to the main shrine building, which is serenely set among towering trees. The shrine is stunning year-round, especially when enveloped in mist. Another shrine, Mototsumiya (“original shrine”), is perched atop Komagatake, one of Mount Hakone’s peaks, accessible via the Hakone Komagatake Ropeway from Hakone-en or by hiking trails.
- Lake Ashinoko - Lake Ashinoko was created in the caldera of Mount Hakone following the volcano’s last eruption 3,000 years ago. Today, the lake, with Mount Fuji as a backdrop, symbolizes Hakone. The lake’s shores remain largely undeveloped, except for small towns in the east and north and a few lakeside resort hotels. The most spectacular views of the lake and Mount Fuji can be seen from Moto-Hakone (just south of the sightseeing boat pier), the Hakone Detached Palace Garden, and the sightseeing boats cruising the lake.
- Hakone Ropeway - The Hakone Ropeway (f10 - 7I1) is a key part of the Hakone Round Course, a favored way to explore Hakone. It links Sounzan Station (the end of the Hakone Tozan Cablecar) with Togendai Station (on the shore of Lake Ashinoko) and makes stops at Owakudani and Ubako stations. The ropeway is fully covered by the Hakone Free Pass. Gondolas depart every minute, accommodating around ten passengers each. The entire ropeway journey takes about 30 minutes, offering views of the active, sulfuric hot springs of the Owakudani Valley between Sounzan and Owakudani, and of Lake Ashinoko and Mount Fuji between Owakudani and Togendai, weather permitting. A gondola transfer is required at Owakudani, but not at Ubako. Admission is 1480 yen (one way).
- Hakone Museum of Art - The Hakone Museum of Art (箱根美術館, Hakone Bijutsukan), situated in Gora, was established by Okada Mokichi in 1952. Its sister museum, the MOA Museum of Art, was later constructed in Atami City on the Izu Peninsula. The museum primarily showcases Japanese ceramics from prehistoric times through the Edo Period (1600-1868), including several large earthenware and ceramic pieces, such as a haniwa burial statue designated as an Important Cultural Property.
- The Hakone Open-Air Museum - The Hakone Open-Air Museum is Japan’s first open-air art museum, created in Hakone to blend nature and art. Artworks are displayed throughout the expansive 70,000 square meter site, surrounded by beautiful trees, grass, and mountains. It is a delightful experience for all ages, from families with children to solo adult travelers. Admission is 2000 yen.
- Owaku-dani Valley - Owaku-dani is an active volcanic area that fuels the local hot springs. Visitors can take the ropeway over the volcano to the observatory to learn about this significant volcano and enjoy one of the black boiled eggs, which are said to grant long life!

Exceptional Service Genuine Care and a Stress Free Experience - We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience, especially considering we were working with a very short layover. From the start, the tour was completely customizable, which was exactly what we needed. We were able to choose the specific places we really wanted to see, and everything was planned in a way that made the most of our limited time. There was no rushing, no stress, and no wasted moments. It felt like the tour was designed just for us, which made the whole experience so much more enjoyable.
Our driver and tour guide, Saki, was absolutely amazing. He was extremely knowledgeable about all the areas we visited and shared lots of interesting facts and local insights along the way. He explained things in a very easygoing and friendly way, which made it feel more like we were exploring with a local friend rather than being on a formal tour. He also knew the best routes and timing, so we were able to see a lot without feeling overwhelmed.
Saki was also incredibly patient and accommodating throughout the entire tour. He always checked in with us to make sure we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves, and he was happy to adjust plans whenever needed. Nothing ever felt like a problem or inconvenience for him, which really stood out.
The most unforgettable part of the experience was when we realized we had left our bag at the airport. Unfortunately, this wasn’t just any bag—it had our passports, boarding passes, and cash inside. As you can imagine, we were completely panicked. Saki immediately stayed calm and reassured us that he would help us figure it out. Without hesitation, he drove us straight back to the airport and helped us contact the right airport staff. He guided us through the entire process, helped with communication, and stayed with us until everything was sorted out.
Thanks to Saki’s quick thinking, patience, and support, we were able to retrieve our bag with everything still inside and untouched. What could have easily turned into a travel nightmare ended up being a huge relief, all because of his professionalism and kindness. He truly went above and beyond what we ever expected from a driver or tour guide.
After that experience, we trusted him completely and were able to relax and enjoy the rest of the tour stress-free. It’s rare to meet someone who genuinely cares so much about their guests and their safety, and Saki clearly does.
I can’t recommend this tour group enough, and especially Saki as a driver and guide. If you have a short layover, want a flexible itinerary, or just want a smooth and enjoyable experience with someone who is reliable, knowledgeable, and truly helpful, this is absolutely the service to book. We’re incredibly grateful for this experience and would not hesitate to book again in the future.

An amazing day exploring Tokyo - Jason is an amazing guide, and our Tokyo tour with him was truly a wonderful experience. He gave us great insight into the main attractions of Tokyo while making the entire day enjoyable and easy to follow, even while traveling with two kids aged 2 and 12. His friendly and calm approach made us feel comfortable from the very beginning.
Jason was extremely patient and attentive, especially with our children, which we really appreciated. He provided clear and engaging explanations about many aspects of Japanese history, culture, and daily living habits, making the tour both educational and entertaining for everyone. He was always happy to answer our questions and adjusted the pace to suit our family’s needs.
The tour content was very thoughtfully planned, and the time was used in an efficient and well-organized way, allowing us to see and experience a lot without feeling rushed or overwhelmed. Thank you, Jason, for such a wonderful and memorable day in Tokyo—we truly had a great time and will cherish these memories.

A Wonderful Tokyo City Tour with Ali – Friendly, Flexible, and Memorable - Ali is a very nice, polite, and genuinely thoughtful guide, and we truly appreciated the kindness he showed us throughout the entire day. From the very beginning, he made us feel comfortable and welcomed, taking the time to listen carefully to what we wanted to see and do. My daughter-in-law, Mari, had created a list of places and experiences she hoped to cover, and Ali made sure that we fulfilled nearly everything on that list without ever making us feel rushed or pressured. It was clear that he genuinely wanted our day to go exactly the way we imagined it.
One of the things we appreciated most was how flexible and accommodating he was. Instead of simply following a fixed route, he gave us options at every stage of the trip, allowing us to choose what mattered most to us. That level of consideration made the entire experience feel personal and tailored, which is something you don’t always get with tours. Having the freedom to select our stops — while still having the guidance of someone who knows the area well — was a perfect balance, especially since we had already planned specific places we wanted to visit.
We truly enjoyed our time with Ali. He was easy to talk to, respectful, and always ready to assist us whenever we needed something. His calm and pleasant demeanor made the whole day smooth and enjoyable. It felt less like being with a guide and more like being with someone who genuinely cared about our comfort and happiness.
And we absolutely have to mention the ride — it was incredibly comfortable. The vehicle was spacious, clean, and well-maintained, which made a big difference during a full day of sightseeing. Having such a comfortable ride was a big plus for all of us, and it allowed us to relax in between stops and enjoy the journey just as much as the destinations.
Overall, we had a wonderful experience, and we will definitely continue using this app for future trips. Thank you, Ali, for taking great care of us and helping us create a memorable day.

A Wonderful Day - Today we had Ali as our tour guide, and from the very start of the morning until the end of the evening, he was exceptionally friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating to my family and me. From the moment we met him, Ali made us feel comfortable and well taken care of. His passion for Tokyo, attention to detail, and genuine care for his guests truly stood out throughout the entire day.
We visited so many of Tokyo’s most popular attractions, and thanks to Ali’s careful planning, everything went smoothly and stress-free. We started our adventure at the lively Tsukiji Market, where we enjoyed the local atmosphere and sampled delicious treats. Then we made our way to the historic Asakusa Shrine, where Ali shared fascinating stories about Japan’s culture and traditions. Lunch at Tokyo Skytree was a highlight, offering spectacular city views and great food.
In the afternoon, we explored Akihabara, admired the serenity of Meiji Shrine, and ended our tour at the iconic Shibuya Crossing. Each stop was perfectly timed, allowing us to truly experience and enjoy each place without feeling rushed.
Ali went above and beyond to tailor the tour to our interests, creating a day filled with joy, learning, and unforgettable memories. Thank you, Ali, for making our first Tokyo city tour absolutely incredible—we couldn’t have asked for a better guide or a better day!

Loved this tour! - Though there was an itinerary listed for this tour, our driver/guide Sam tailored the itinerary for our whole day tour to what we were interested seeing. At each stop, he gave us insight and history for our understanding of what we were experiencing and seeing. He was wonderful! So knowledgeable and so friendly. And he took us to a delicious lunch spot. We highly recommend Sam and this tour. It was well worth the money we spent.

A city tour in Japan... - A city tour in Japan includes idR 4 temples and a viewing platform. We remove the temples from the program, which usually leaves the guides at a loss. Our guide in Tokyo mastered the task with flying colors and showed us modern Tokyo at its best.
