Setting Sail to Turtle Island

The sun was just beginning to rise over the horizon as I made my way to the meeting point for the Snorkel with Turtles adventure. The anticipation of exploring the biodiverse waters of Cook Island, also known as Turtle Island, was palpable. As someone who has spent years advocating for sustainable tourism, I was thrilled to join a tour that promised not only an unforgettable experience but also a commitment to ecological consciousness.

Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted by the Cooly Eco Adventures crew, who immediately made me feel at ease. They provided all the necessary equipment, including wetsuits, fins, and snorkelling gear, ensuring that we were well-prepared for the adventure ahead. As we sipped on our morning coffees, the crew conducted a thorough safety briefing, emphasizing the importance of respecting the marine environment we were about to enter.

The boat ride to Cook Island was a serene journey along the Tweed River and the coast, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. Diving into a Marine Wonderland

One of the highlights of the dive was encountering a wobbigong and a carpet shark, both of which added an element of thrill to the experience. Having previously joined the Cooly Eco Adventures crew for a whale swim earlier in the year, I was once again impressed by their dedication to providing eco-friendly experiences that prioritize the well-being of the environment.
