Patallacta - Guests will be picked up from their hotel in Cusco at 5:30 am and driven to the village of Ollantaytambo. Here, a nutritious breakfast (not included) can be enjoyed, and snacks can be purchased before embarking on the trekking adventure. The journey continues to Piscacucho (KM 82), where the first 2-hour hike to Patallacta (2,750m/ 9,020ft) begins. This Inca archaeological site offers breathtaking views and is nestled in the lush Urubamba valley. After exploring this captivating location, the hike continues for 45 minutes to the lunch spot. A delicious meal prepared by the cook will be served, allowing time for rest. The trek then proceeds for 1.5 hours to the campsite at Wayllabamba (3,000m/ 9,800ft), where a well-deserved rest, an afternoon snack, and a delightful dinner await before bedtime.
DAY 2: Wayllabamba – Dead Woman’s Pass – Pacaymayo
DAY 3: Pacaymayo – Runcuraccay Pass – Chaquiccocha – Wiñayhuayna
Wiñay Wayna - This day is the longest and most demanding, so a hearty breakfast is provided to prepare for the journey. The hike continues through jungle vegetation and several remarkable archaeological sites. The first site visited is the Runcurakay ruins (3,760m/ 12,300ft), notable for their circular enclosures. After a brief pause, the hike proceeds for 1.5 hours to the Sayacmarka archaeological site. These ruins, perched on a rocky cliff at 3,600 m, resemble a labyrinth of houses, squares with central fountains, and narrow streets. The lunch break takes place at Chaquicocha, offering time to relax. After 2.5 hours of hiking, the next archaeological site, Puyuptamarca (3,600m/ 11,810ft), known as “The City Above the Clouds,” is reached. This site features Inca ruins with five small stone baths. From there, a 3-hour descent leads to the campsite at Wiñayhuayna, where dinner is served.
Day 04: Wiñay Wayna - Machu Picchu - Cusco
Machupicchu - The day begins at 3:30 am with breakfast, followed by a descent to the control point. After waiting for just over an hour for the gates to open, the hike continues for 1.5 hours to the Sun Gate (Inti Punku), the ceremonial entrance to Machu Picchu. Here, the first view of the magnificent Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu is revealed. A 40-minute descent follows to the citadel of Machu Picchu, the “Lost City of the Incas.” This site is a masterpiece of Inca architecture, featuring various quarters, squares, alleys, buildings, astronomical observatories, and terraces. A local guide will provide insights into this sacred place and offer a tour of the entire complex. Afterwards, there is ample free time to explore the archaeological site independently. In the afternoon, a bus ride to Aguas Calientes is followed by lunch at a local restaurant. The journey concludes with a train ride to Ollantaytambo and then to Cusco.
