Great tour of Old Orhei and of the Cricova Winery! - I had a great tour of Old Orhei and of the Cricova winery! Our guide, Slava, was very well informed, a good driver and was very friendly too. We visited a number of beautiful, photogenic and historic old monasteries in the historic region and nearby. We then went to a nice, authentic though inexpensive restaurant for lunch. In the afternoon we went on the Cricova winery tour. It was a fascinating tour with miles upon miles of underground caverns where wine is produced and aged. This was the deluxe tour where we were among only a handful of people who got a nice wine tasting of a variety of wines. This was guided and described by one of the professional staff from the winery. And then Slava dropped us each off to our hotels. It was a pretty big day but I never felt like we were being hurried. And while group size can vary, our group was one of only three people. It was just great and well worth the money!

Great experience - This is the tour to take if you have only one day and want to discover nice places out of Chisinao. Especially lunch in the cave restaurant Epoca de Piatra was amazing!

Loved the tour - Loved the tour, Slava was a great guide, always ready with information, very communicative and we had a great time. We did change the winery to Milestii Mici since it is a World Guinness and it was perfect. The tour agency was always a whatsapp away with fast answers and resolutions. I would definitely recommend this tour, guide and agency.

Great Overview of Moldova - This was a really enjoyable day tour and a great way to see some of Moldova’s highlights. The itinerary had a nice balance of activities with historic sites, beautiful scenery, and the fascinating underground tunnels at Cricova Winery. The wine tasting was fun and very memorable, even if the wine itself wasn’t my favorite. Lunch was also great, and everything was well organized. Our guide was friendly and helpful, and the whole day ran smoothly. Highly recommend if you want a relaxed and full day exploring the area.

Overall, we enjoyed the... - Overall, we enjoyed the tour very much mainly to our guide Valeri who is very knowledgeable and can give you a good overview of past and present Moldova. However, there are a couple of points that could be improved. We were four during the tour and the transport was in a regular car. It was a bit crowded and uncomfortable for an entire day. The tour at Cricova was in Russian as no English tours were available. We were warned about this with the promise our guide will translate, but the translation was basic. We enjoy wines very much so we would have been keen to get the specifics of the winemaking process in Cricova. But all in all, a nice experience.

False Advertised as a PRIVATE tour - This tour is deliberately advertised falsely and deceptively as “EXCLUSIVE FOR YOU AND YOUR GROUP”, meaning a PRIVATE tour. Imagine my surprise when we were picked up 15 MINUTES LATE to a van already full of other tourists! Not only did it turn out to be a GROUP tour, we were the last picked up and the only remaining seats were in the very back of the van. I avoid group tours when I can for many reasons, and this validated it. I’m prone to motion sickness and riding in the very back of a bouncy van on rough bumpy rural roads, with a driver who frequently drove hard, kept me feeling bad all day. The tour guide, Ecaterina, while a friendly lady, proved to not be a good tour guide. She barely gave any information during the long drive to the various locations and when she did speak, it was only loud enough that the people in front could hear, even after telling her we could not hear her in the back. At the various sites, while trying to explore and enoy the experience, she rushed ahead to the next location with a few of the group members and apparently talked a bit about the next site. When I caught up to her, she had mostly finished with whatever she was saying and moved on. I learned almost nothing from her about any of the sites. I paid the price of what was advertised as a PRIVATE tour and ended up on a GROUP tour that was average at best. The price was on par with other company’s private tours. It was significantly more than competitor’s group tours. In other words, I significantly overpaid for a below average group tour that was advertised as a private tour. The only reason I’m being generous with a 2 star rating, versus 1 star, is the sites themselves. They are interesting to visit to get away from Chisinau and learn more about Moldova. I recommend touring these sites, just with caution of the tour operator. I contacted the tour operator but what can really be done? Rescheduling is not an option when on holiday.
