A Sunrise Adventure to Chichen Itza

The sun was just beginning to peek over the horizon as we set off on our private journey to Chichen Itza. The early morning air was crisp, a welcome change from the usual tropical heat that accompanies my surf trips. Our guide, Angel, greeted us with a warm smile and an offer to stop for coffee, which we gladly accepted. As a professional surfer, I’m used to early mornings, but there’s something uniquely magical about starting a day with a steaming cup of coffee in hand, the promise of adventure ahead.

Arriving at Chichen Itza before the throngs of tourists was a revelation. The site was serene, almost as if it was waiting just for us. Our adventure continued with a delicious lunch, a feast of Yucatan flavors that left us both satisfied and eager for more. The buffet was a delightful surprise, offering the best food we’d tasted in Mexico. Each dish was a testament to the region’s rich culinary heritage, a perfect complement to the day’s explorations.

With our appetites sated, we made a brief stop in the colonial city of Valladolid. The colorful streets and historic architecture provided a picturesque backdrop for a leisurely stroll and a few photos. It was the perfect way to end our day, a blend of history, culture, and natural beauty that left us with memories to last a lifetime.
