A Great Introduction To Mayan Culture - We had a great time with Paul, who expertly walked us through the ruins at Chichen Itzá, patiently answering our questions and taking some wonderful photos throughout the day. Additionally, as vegetarians, we were delighted by his efforts ensuring we had a variety of food options throughout the day.

Highly, highly recommend. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - We are SO happy we booked a private tour with Paul — honestly, it turned out to be the best decision of our trip! Since we only had one full day in Cancun, we were a little nervous about dedicating the whole day to one tour, but wow… it was more than worth it. Paul is passionate, thoughtful, and incredibly knowledgeable. He explains history in a way that’s not just interesting, but human — like listening to a great storyteller rather than reading from a textbook. His experience gives him a unique perspective, and you can truly feel how much he cares about the culture, the people, and the places he shares. On top of that, Paul has the soul of a creative photographer — he found fun angles, suggested poses, and turned simple moments into cinematic memories. We now have some of our favorite travel photos thanks to him! And the food… oh my goodness. He introduced us to authentic local flavors we would have never found on our own — including a real Mayan kitchen. That alone felt like a once-in-a-lifetime moment. If you’re thinking about booking this tour: do it. Paul didn’t just guide us — he made us feel welcome, cared for, and connected to this place. We’ll remember this day forever.

Fantastic Tour, would 100% recommend - Paul was absolutely fantastic. We had 2 separate tours with Paul, his Cancun food tour & the Chichen Itza, Cenote tour. Both were absolutely brilliant, Paul’s knowledge and style of touring was very interesting. He had kept all 7 of us interested and with some well timed food stops at some absolutely amazing local restaurants. We had a fantastic time, would highly recommend

An Amazing Day with Señor Travel Bug! - We had an incredible private tour with Paul. Paul was extremely kind, knowledgable, bilingual (dare I say quad-lingual?) and welcoming host/tour guide. He helped us really get a more in depth understanding of the Mayan Historical sites, as well as giving us an authentic Mexican experience in through the rest of the Yucatan with an amazing lunch, cenote, and stop in the beautiful town of Valladolid. A MAJOR surprise for us we did not expect but was a win for us were the numerous pictures he took and gave to us on this trip, as well a video he edited and sent at the end of the day after he got home. He truly goes above and beyond. He provided, water, towels, and even carried our purchases when doing a bit of shopping. We spent a 12 trip in Mexico and our day with him truly was a highlight of the trip. HIGHLY recommend his tours to make your trip to Chichen Itza memorable.

Tour Guiding as it should be done! - Finally, a tour guide who knows how to give his guests the best experience. Booking a trip when you're on holiday always feels like a bit of a gamble and its normally easier to go with the 'safe' option of booking through a hotel, but you often end up on an overpriced, average tour on a big coach that feels hurried as it runs to a strict timetable. I've always hated those types of tours, so wanted a a reasonably priced private tour designed around me. After reading the reviews for a number of tours, Señor Travel Bug jumped out at me. Not only does he have 100% rating but all the reviews were saying the same thing about how relaxed and friendly Paul is and how interesting and informative the tour is. I booked the tour with my family (for some reason, none of the tours to Chichén Itzá are cheap and even the tours that appear cheap soon end up more expensive once ticket costs are added, etc. This private tour cost virtually the same as a coach trip for 50 people). We opted to go for the tour in his Audi rather than the Beetle as it has better air conditioning! The tour was a joy from start to finish. Paul gave us loads of information throughout the day that kept both myself and kids interested. He welcomed as many questions as we could ask and was happy to go deeper into certain areas if we wanted or keep it brief if we were getting overwhelmed with knowledge. For Chichén Itzá Paul is supported by a local guide, so whilst Paul gives the tour the local expert was able to join in and provide some additional expert insight into some of the iconography and history. The tour went entirely at our pace, we spent over 4 hours just at Chichén Itzá (a record apparently as the tour is normally around 3 hours), this was mainly due to my wife's shopping, but we never felt hurried or rushed once. However, the special sauce in Paul's tour and what sets it apart from any other tour I've been on (and I've been on dozens of tours around the world), is that, like me, Paul is a keen photographer and during the day took over 100 photos and videos of myself and the family. He knows the best vantage points and how to take the fun shots. This is probably the first holiday where I'm actually in most of the photos instead of being behind the lens! At the end of the day Paul provides you with all the photos and videos (incl. a montage video), free of charge. No overpriced single photos in a frame, nothing like that - 100+ quality photos of the trip for free. Having your own photographer on the trip is worth the tour cost alone. I only wish we could have stayed in Mexico longer to have been able to go on some of Paul's other trips. Paul set up his travel company to pursue his passion for travel following a long career with a major bank. I would highly recommend one of his tours.

Wonderful private tour - Spent the day with Paul, and it was fantastic. He is a super personable and knowledgeable guide who taught us about Chichén Itzá and kept it interesting for myself and my family the entire time. He then tailored our lunch plans so that we had an authentic and delicious experience. We then finished off with a refreshing swim in a beautiful uncrowded cenote, and a tour of Valladolid. A huge extra bonus was that he took really wonderful photos and videos for us the whole day. Highly recommended, you will enjoy your tour with Paul.
