Interesting facts, great guide, would be interested to hear what life was like, personal stories. The date was unseasonably warm, I thought it was considerate how they had water and a golf cart if needed for the group.
Our group found the museum fascinating and informative. All of your exhibits were of excellent quality and there was a wonderful variety. Well worth the time and money. We have already recommended it to others via social media.
Very interesting! The tour guide, Mary Ann, was enthusiastic and informative. I definitely will tell my friends about this.
It's well worth the money!
Did you even think of having sleepovers at the prison? That would be amazing, too!
Great information, guide's, and stories
Tour is too long. After a while everything looks the same. The tour guide was excellent.
Tour guide was knowledgeable
We truly enjoyed the tour, it was very interesting and educational. We had a great tour guide. I wanted to get in there before things were cleaned up too much. It will never be the same as it is now. I hope you will leave a section of the cell block as is, no cleaning it up. -Thank you, Ken B.
Very interesting, just wish we were allowed into the buildings themselves a little more
Our guide was so informative and we learned so much about the prisons history
One of the best tours I have been on
The guides were very knowledgeable the tour was very enjoyable and just a very satisfying fun event. I can not wait to experience it again.
I took the same tour last year 2018 and liked it so much, in wanted to take it again, since there is so much information, it is a fascinating experience
I recently visited the Old Joliet Prison with 3 family members from Texas. Everyone was excited about this tour and thoroughly interested in the history. In my younger days I passed the prison every day on my way to work, shopping and church. I found this tour to be fascinating and answered questions I had on what was beyond the walls and huge gates on Collins Street. I never would have guessed that there was a hospital, furniture factory, church, record keeping building, heating system that supplied heat for the prison cells, etc. I cannot wait for the next phase of renovation to enhance this experience. I plan to return in the near future with more family members and friends.
Our tour guide did a great job with descriptions of the buildings and information. We were her first tour and she was very prepared. It was a little disappointing that the buildings are in such terrible condition that you cannot go inside, except for the hospital. They were very kind to provide water to everyone as it was a horribly hot and humid day and you are outside the whole time. No bathrooms because there is no water or electricity. We would love to go back when more renovations are completed. It is very interesting and so much history.
We were all extremely impressed with the knowledge of the tour guides and their dedication. This is a tour that everyone --- especially families with teenagers --- who are very impressionable at their young ages. We talked of nothing else on our way home except about the Prison. However, I wish we could get some recommendations of books or other reading material; perhaps you could hand out some information on this at the end of each tour in the future.
The guide & past prison guards were very informative. What we saw was amazing. Fantastic commentary about the history. Even though we were soaked by the rain, we found the tour amazing. Please thanks the young lady tour guide (sorry forgot her name).
Knowledgable guides. Good effort to gradually open parts of the facility.
