One of the Best Museums in the Country - My family and I visited the Field Museum at the end of December. The museum was pretty busy and certain areas did feel a bit crowded (Egypt area, gems, and dinosaurs). It is a very big museum so there were areas that did not feel as busy or crowded. We parked in the Soldier Field parking garage just across from the museum; it was a convenient walk to the entrance of the Field Museum. After we entered we waited in a short line to purchases tickets to enter the museum. The staff member who sold us admission to the museum was not very friendly. Thankfully that interaction did not take long and we were off to explore the Museum. The Great Hall of the museum is amazing. There are dinosaur fossils and architecture that wow even in the entry of the museum. The collection of dinosaur fossils, the Egyptian exhibit including the tomb that was transported from Egypt, and the many area of taxidermy animals are some of the best in the United States. The fossil of the T-Rex that is one of the largest ever discovered (named Sue) and the taxidermy images of the man-eating lions of Tsavo are two of the best-known displays in the Museum. I have been to the Natural History Museum of the Smithsonian and the Natural History Museum in New York City, and the Field Museum is as good as if not better than those in many ways. If you are thorough in your visit it takes a good portion of the day to visit the museum. It is large and has a lot to see. I am not sure someone could see the entire museum in one day if being really deliberate. I highly recommend a visit to the Field Museum if you are in Chicago.

World Class Museum - This is one of the World’s best collections of dinosaur bones. You can easily walk here from downtown hotels. A family could easily spend a few hours here.

So Much to do in this Fun, Vibrant City! - My husband and I loved our trip to Chicago! We walked to most attractions from our Historic hotel, The Palmer House. We felt safe even walking in the evening. We did use the Hop on Hop Off bus for the first couple days for convenient transportation, basic information, and to see where most attractions were located. We enjoyed the boat ride Architecture tour in spite of a drizzle. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about the history and design of all the fabulous buildings. The Field Museum was great and rivaled DC's Smithsonian. I learned a lot and the collection of Taxidermy animals was amazing. The Art Museum was so wonderful that we went back a second day. We got premium tickets for Second City and my husband wound up onstage! Of course we had hotdogs and also went to the Navy Pier which I'd say would be a must visit for families with kids. We enjoyed our ride on the huge Ferris Wheel there.

Amazing Museum — Perfect Half-Day Stop! - The Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago was awesome — so much to see that you can easily spend a few hours there without getting bored. The dinosaur exhibits are jaw-dropping (hello, Sue, and the cultural displays are thoughtful and beautifully presented. The layout is easy to navigate and there’s just enough variety to keep kids and adults happy. We grabbed a quick snack at the café and kept exploring — the ocean and ancient Egypt sections were personal favorites. It’s a must-visit if you’re into science, history, or just looking for a fun, educational way to spend part of your day in Chicago. Would totally recommend

Get the Extras... worth it! - Even though sometimes it is annoying to have to pay extra for some installations, it is worth it here at the Field. The extra admission (I am sure) helps with the installation and creation of the "extras". We saw "After the Dinosaurs" and the detail, stories, timeline and everything made it a wonderful experience for the family. We used to bring the kids here all the time (from Wisconsin) when they were younger, and now that they are teens they are still fascinated by it all!

Can a museum visit be my 40 hour work week? Here it can happen! - What a large variety! We enjoyed both the natural science exhibits (who knew there were soooo many birds in the world!) and the human history exhibits (ancient Egypt). We spent three hours here, only had to stop because my teen was done. I could’ve spent all day and returned for a whole week. If you are a museum or science obsessed person, I’m sure you could spend a full work week there. We didn’t stop in the cafe, so I’m not sure of the prices.

Lovely time and learned so much! - A must do! So so much to see. You can spend hours here if you wanted! I have always wanted to see the Tsavo Lions and can now mark that off of my bucket list. My husband and I really enjoyed all of the skeletons of the different animals- it really makes you see the animal in a different way. And wow, so much we didn't know.
