Explore Chicago’s Pedway system, a network of underground tunnels that allows pedestrians to traverse the Loop, while enjoying festive holiday decorations and attractions along the way.
The tour kicks off in the lobby of the Swissotel, where participants descend into the Pedway. After exploring the Chicago Cultural Center and its renowned Tiffany Dome, the tour returns to the Pedway for a brief stroll to Macy’s department store. Here, visitors can admire the famous Tiffany ceiling, the “Great Tree” in the Walnut Room, and the store’s beautifully decorated holiday windows.
The journey continues back into the Pedway, leading to Civic Center Plaza for a visit to the Christkindlmarket, an authentic European holiday market. The tour then returns to the Pedway for a stop at City Hall, followed by a short walk to a nearby L station.
A quick train ride transports participants to the start/end point of Route 66, the Art Institute’s lion statues, and Millennium Park to see the iconic Cloud Gate sculpture, also known as The Bean, along with the city’s holiday tree.
