This was certainly a unique way to see Chicago lit up at night! I’m fairly athletic and have moderate kayaking experience, and this trip was definitely not for beginners. The 3 hour time provided was also inaccurate- I got off the water 45 minutes later than intended, and that was at the front of the group. There weren’t enough guides to supervise the kayakers, either, as I got off the water and hadn’t seen a guide in 30 minutes. I recommend this for intermediate - advanced kayakers only, and a longer timeframe given. Also, the breaks listed were misleading - there aren’t any, really.
I had a great time kayaking on the river! My only complaint would be that even though I arrived 15 minutes early, me and my partner were in group 3. We requested a kayak for two, but there was not enough to go around. Our group seemed a little rushed to get to the fireworks on time, since we were the last group to leave. We did make it, but it felt very rushed to get there. We overall had a really fun time though! I would Kayak Chicago again, but I would recommend getting there earlier than told.
Great trip but you should indicate in the description that it’s a 7.5 mile trip that’ll take 3 hours and no bathroom breaks so that folks understand what it entails. That having been said, I loved it. Well organized and the guides who took us down the river were really good - making sure to not leave anyone behind or struggling! I would def do a kayak ride again (but maybe a shorter one).
Guides were helpful and approachable. The route was scenic and just the right length. Recommend!
Awesome Experience!!! I was so nervous and the team we had was amazing on helping and calming you done when you would panick or get stuck along the river!! Great experience and it was because of the team!!! Def would do it again!!
Very fun trip, bubba was an amazing tour guide and the views were beautiful. Only disappointing part was going through sewage plant of river.
We had to wait for the late comers to show up so it cut into our time on the water. This made it difficult to get to the fireworks in a relaxing manner. Fortunately, we arrived just as the fireworks were starting. Excellent staff made it a great experience!!!
Awesome crew, and very fun experience! Take the workout gloves with you to prevent blisters though!
This tour was a great experience, and being that this was my first time Kayaking the crew did a great job providing instructions. All of the tour guides were awesome did a great job keeping an eye on everyone, and you could tell that safety is a priority for this company. The fireworks were cool, but seeing the City Lights from the water at night was a great perspective as well. I highly recommend this tour and Kayak Chicago!
The guides were very attentive and conscientious, great personalities. I'd highly recommend this tour. Please note that it's a real workout.
Great staff great experience
My husband and I had a great time going kayaking to see the fireworks it was an amazing experience!! And we're planning to go again. The Kayak Chicago crew where super friendly and they where outstanding in keeping all the crew safe while everyone had an amazing time. Defeneatly will recommend to any body and I know you will have a great time!!
The views were spectacular
Amazing. Well worth it!!! Definitely going again, hopefully many times.
Great weather. Great team. Great town.
Great Staff, nice experience on the river
This was my first time at Kayak Chicago and they made me feel really comfortable and taught me how to kayak. The guides were great. They were all super friendly and helpful. The only thing that was tough were some of the kayakers that couldn’t get the hang of it bumping into one another causing jam ups. Especially the two person kayaks. The fireworks were great and we had a front row spot. It was pretty cool watching the fireworks from a kayak. It was a little longer then expected, but it was a great workout and I would definitely go again and recommend Kayak Chicago to my friends and family. Thank you for the experience.
It was really fun !!
Friendly instructors, wonderful experience
I have done three kayak tours with kayak Chicago and my biggest complaint the last two is that there is way to many kayakers. Feel like it is bumper kayaks at times. Would be nice to have smaller groups or split up so not so congested.
Great experience loved it definitely would do it again!
The employees were great and the kayaking was great. They gave good instructions and were very safe. The only recommendation is to have a better plan when stormy weather comes in and we have to evacuate. It was very chaotic and we were on our own to get back to the place to get our belongings. Some people had no money or phone. A bus or something should be provided for this situation.
You should really warn people about how intense this tour is. I am a 32 year old woman in decent shape and I barely made it back to the dock. My hands were shredded with raw blisters and I had to take ibuprofen for the pain when it woke me up at 3am the next morning. I was expecting a nice relaxing stroll down the river not a “keep up or die,” atmosphere. It was fun but should have been about 4 miles shorter.
We had a really good time. The guides really knew what they were doing and made sure we were safe when in areas with a lot of boats. They did a great job! This was a really unique and fun experience.
The staff was very helpful and made the experience fun and enjoyable throughout the whole +3 hours. Riding through the Chicago river at night with all the city lights and trains going over your head was priceless. Also the watching the fireworks from the river was nice as well.
The crew was knowledgeable and the trip was fun despite having to get off the water sooner than planned due to a storm. The crew efficiently got us out of the water.
The guides were very fun and helpful!
Great staff. Very informative/ entertaining and super helpful! Tour is long but so worth it, this is my favorite way to see the city and the fireworks.
The staff were super informative , fun and overall helpful.
Riding distance is a little too long. It was tough coming back to the dock.
Help and instruction were great...
