Would love to do it again - This was heavenly. We opted to have a driver pick us up in Chiang Rai at 6 AM and take us to immigration in preparation for boarding our boat. Our guide, Toon, took care of the 30 or so travelers. My sister and I had seats facing a table near the front of the boat and we were free to visit other people, lie on one of 4 mats, or sit outside in front of the pilot. The two lunches were excellent and there was always coffee and tea and fresh fruit. We stopped at a couple of villages and walked through town, and at a cave. At the overnight stop, we stayed at the Sanctuary Hotel, a good choice.

I recommend 100% value for money! - We had a very good 2 day slow boat experience, the staff is available for everything and everything is very well organized from pick up at our hotel to arrival in Luang Prabang Lunch is included in the price, as well as overnight stay so it’s definitely worth it!

Don't miss it! It will soon be gone! - An extraordinary experience. Travelling down one of the major rivers in the world, sitting comfortably while watching life on the shore slide by. Water buffalo, gold panners and women doing laundry while men fished. Small hill tribe villages. Sacred Buddhist caves, history centuries old. The buffet lunches on the boat were ample and very flavourful, and the accommodation at Pak Beng world class. On our boat we met interesting people from all over the world, and experienced a way of travel that may soon be coming to an end. The Lao, with Chinese help, are building power dams on the Mekong that will soon impede this mode of transport. La, our guide was knowledgeable, and wonderfully helpful. When, in a clutz move, I left my cellphone on the shuttle bus while going from Thailand to Laos on Friendship Bridge #4 to start the trip, I thought it was gone forever. Not so - La and others with Nagi of Mekong worked across the border, and tracked it down. They then arranged to courier it to our daughter in Bangkok. If you can do this trip, I highly recommend it. Well worth the money -- and Luang Prabang at the end of it was our favourite town among the dozen or so we visited in out 6 week trip in SE Asia.

This is a must, highly recommend to any travellers - The most amazing cruise which is a must for travellers. The staff were so friendly, our tour guide Tui was so knowledgeable and really looked after us all. There were lots of stops on the way, seeing local villages and caves. The food was lovely and different food was served for lunch on both days. Would highly recommend this cruise. A very calming and relaxing experience especially sitting at the front of the boat and taking the whole experience in. It’s also a great way to meet people and exchange stories and tips with them. If your a solo travellers it’s a great way to meet people

Fantastic! - If you're on the fence about doing this, especially if you are solo, GO! It's fantastic. An experience of a lifetime. The boat is clean, spacious, and comfortable. Our guide, La, was very nice and informative. The feeling of cruising on the Mekong watching the world go by simply cannnot be beat. Nagi of Mekong impressed me with impeccable organization. It's worth booking the luxury option in Pakbeng (Le Grand Pakbeng) as the views, especially during sunset, are unbeatable. Stop thinking about it and just go!

You won’t regret booking this! - The most amazing experience which we would definitely recommend to anyone thinking about doing this cruise down the river Mekong. The boat was spacious and clean / well looked after and we only had 11 people on our boat so it was lovely to be able to get to know everyone. Surprisingly the trip went really quickly but it was the perfect amount of time on and off the boat at the various stops that were planned. We didn’t realise there were stops planned at two different villages and the caves in Laos so felt like a huge bonus! Tune was a great guide and hosted us both days, he was super knowledgable and looked after us well - from immigration at the boarder in Thailand straight through to our transfers in Laos, it was seamless. Thank you Tune! The lunch we had both days on the boat was delicious with a great selection each day. Our only watch out would be that it wasn’t clear on here whether we needed to book an overnight stay at the stop in PakBeng therefore we ended up paying for two accommodations as neither could be cancelled. We would recommend booking your own as we’re not sure the one that was booked for us was very nice! We would say the amount we paid for the trip was definitely worth it as the experience, views and hospitality we received were incredible.

Great experience if you've got the time - 2 days going from Chiang Khong to Luang Prabang passed far more quickly than I expected. Our guide and the rest of the crew on the boat were lovely and the food cooked on-board was delicious. You get time to chat to others on board, take in the scenery, or just chill out and relax. The boat is large enough that it wasn't at all cramped and you could have your own space when you felt like it. The stops along the way were great too. There's a lot of tours in Luang Prabang to the same spots, so seeing them on the way is great, rather than spending a day backtracking. Would thoroughly recommend if you've got the time.

The smiling children Along the Mekong - The villages you visit appear very dependant on tourist $. The children are beautiful. If you want to visit the villagers, you’ll require some physical strength and ability to ascendthe riverbank.
