The 2nd Tunnel was discovered on March 24, 1975.
Excavation began after two soldiers reported hearing explosions during their sentry duty on November 20, 1973. The 2nd Tunnel is twice as long and deep as the 3rd Tunnel. Visitors can explore inside the tunnel up to the endpoint, which is 300 meters away from the Military Demarcation Line. -

Travelers will enjoy a truly memorable experience, gaining valuable historical insights and understanding the deep emotions many Koreans have regarding their hopes for reunification. This trip is highly educational, benefiting both adults and children. Each year, numerous young Korean students visit the DMZ to learn important lessons from the Cold War era.
Unlike other DMZ tours, visitors are not required to switch to a group tour bus. The tour will proceed into the civilian-controlled area using personal vehicles, following a lead vehicle in a single file. The DMZ has remained untouched by humans for over 70 years.
This area is beautifully preserved and serves as a sanctuary for migratory birds, cranes, and other wildlife.
At the Cherwon Observatory, visitors can conserve energy by taking the monorail to the mountain’s summit.
