Chongqing - Chengdu Panda Breeding Base- City Highlights (L)

Chongqing Railway Station - The driver will meet you in the lobby of your Chongqing hotel and transfer you to the railway station for a 1.5-hour bullet train journey to Chengdu.

Upon arrival, your local guide will be waiting for you at the exit of the arrival hall, holding a sign with your name.

Giant Panda Breeding Research Base (Xiongmao Jidi) - Board your private air-conditioned vehicle to the Giant Panda Breeding Base.

Upon arrival, enjoy some leisure time observing the Giant pandas, including newborns, teenagers, and adults. Learn about the various stages of a panda’s life from infancy to adulthood. Visit the research laboratory, museum, panda playground, animal hospital, and the facility’s beautiful lake. Capture photos of these enchanting and endangered creatures as they relax in their natural habitat.

Kuanzhai Alley - Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, then discuss with your tour guide where you would like to go in the city. Typically, you will continue your visit to Kuanzhai Alley, a popular entertainment and nightlife area with traditional Chinese-style buildings.

Follow your tour guide to explore the area and learn about Chengdu’s folk culture and local life. Then, visit the Well Alley, which showcases the new life of Chengdu residents, as well as the most open, diverse, and dynamic zone in the area.

Wenshu Yuan Monastery - Afterwards, proceed to Wenshu Yuan Monastery.

Wenshu Yuan Monastery is the best-preserved Buddhist temple in the city, featuring hundreds of bronze, wooden, and stone statues, and Buddhist relics. Since the Tang (618-907) dynasties, over 500 pieces of painting and calligraphy by celebrities have been stored here.

Stroll around the courtyard with your tour guide, learn about Buddhism in China, and see how locals pray here with incense. Admire different cultural relics and explore its exquisite garden and solemn halls.

Jinli Pedestrian Street, once one of the busiest commercial streets during the Shu Kingdom (221-263). Today, it features boutique shops, modern bars and restaurants, and a variety of local snacks.

Chengdu-Leshan Giant Buddha- Chongqing (L)

Leshan Giant Buddha (Da Fo) - Meet in the lobby of your Chengdu Downtown hotel in the morning, greeted by your knowledgeable and friendly personal guide, then transferred by an air-conditioned vehicle to Leshan Giant Buddha (approx. 2.5 hours). Relax on the way and enjoy the beautiful countryside views.

As a UNESCO Site, the construction of the Leshan Buddha began in the year 713 during the Tang Dynasty and was completed in 803. The statue took more than 90 years to carve, with thousands of workers dedicating their efforts and wisdom to the project. As the largest carved stone Buddha in the world, the Giant Buddha is celebrated in poetry, song, and story.

Lingyun Temple - Your first stop is Lingyun Temple, located behind the Grand Buddha’s head. Marvel at the elaborate construction of the Buddha’s coiled hair, made up of around 1,020 twisted buns. Walk inside and admire the intricate sculptures and wall designs of the temple. Then, enjoy panoramic views of three rivers converging beautifully below.

Next, follow your guide down approximately 30 minutes toward the left side of the Grand Buddha. Upon reaching the bottom, be amazed by the 233-foot (71-meter) height of the largest carved Buddha in the world and capture fantastic photographs of this sacred site.

Wuyou Temple - Next, explore the right side of the Buddha to discover Wuyou Temple, which contains an abundance of terra-cotta sculptures and calligraphic paintings.

Stroll around the temple with your tour guide to learn more about Buddhism.

If the line to Wuyou Temple is too long, you will take a river cruise for a panoramic view of the Giant Buddha instead.

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. After the tour concludes, you can choose to end your tour in Chengdu or return to Chongqing. Your driver will drop you off at your hotel in Chongqing.
