Brilliant guide to a remote a beautiful section of the wall - Our small group of 4 was picked up in a luxury car with plenty of space and good air con. Luis, our guide made the most of the drive to the wall, expanding some history and interesting facts. On the wall, there was plenty of time for pictures, with Luis pointing out his favourite locations for photographs. This section of the wall is very quet. We went on a public holiday and there were plenty of opportunities to get vast stretches of the wall without anyone else on it. Brilliant for photography. I was told if you go on a weekday outside of a holiday you would bairly see anyone at all. This trip was the highlight of my time in Beijing.

Great hike in Jinshanling! - We signed up for just the transportation service due to the time constraint and it worked perfectly. The driver was on time to pick us up, the ride was comfortable and we left our luggage in his car. We finished the hike earlier than the agreed pickup time, and the driver came to pick us up quickly per our request. Then dropped us at a station that was convenient for us to head to the Daxing airport. The only issue we had to overcome was that in spite of the description of the tour that said the pickup point was the east gate, the driver told us that he would meet us back at the same place he dropped us off at a certain time. It took at least 15 min to communicate with him via a translator app that was not what the tour description said, with a few local farmers’ help who were trying to sell stuff to us who spoke English. The driver initially said we would get lost if we went on the route we wanted to go. Only in front of the big map that showed some suggested routes (in English) one of which seemed to be the route we signed up for, we were able to convince him to pick us up at the east gate parking in 4hrs. I’m glad all worked out at the end. And this section of Jinshanling route was fabulous!!! Not crowded at all and gorgeous view. Be ready though, some sections are super steep and relentless of ups and downs. “Moderate” would not be the word I would use to describe this route. We took a little detour but the total mileage was 3.55 miles. And it took us 3hrs with lots of stops. I highly recommend this tour for those who want to hike at your own pace.

Super unforgettable experience - We had a great time in the company of James who was able to involve us and accompany us during this experience. We had requested a special tour in the Jinshanling section because we wanted to be able to appreciate this wonder in solitude .. and so it was. Despite the departure not too early and the 2h45 drive from Beijing, we found a magical place and almost untouched by tourism. James explained details and anecdotes in depth, managing to satisfy our curiosity. Surplus, we had asked for an authentic lunch experience and were fully satisfied with a typical lunch in a humble local family. The price is worth all the lived experience, it will remain for us an unforgettable moment. Thank you James and Catherine Lu's staff.

Nice time to visit Jinshanling in April - We did the Jinshanling private tour, the tour guide was warm friendly and accomodating. Weather great in April with flowers blossoming. Not crowded. We were able to take lots of photos and had a home style local meal nearby. Overall reasonable tour but could have been more informative and attentive for the price paid.

The best part of the Wall by far - The trip to get to the wall was 3 hours long, which is longer that the tour description said, and we were under time pressure, we only had 8.5 hours in total before we needed to get back. However, once we got to the Wall the drive was worth it, we had done the part of the wall close to Beijing earlier in the week and this section was so much better. We could only spend 2 hours on the wall due to the drive being longer but it was an awesome experience. Our tour guide, May, was awesome, and the lunch served afterwards was lovely.

Great walk shame about the driver - The drive to the wall was a bit dodgy with the driver nearly falling asleep at the wheel. But when we got there he dropped us off at one gate and arranged to meet him 3 hours later at the east gate and we walked the wall. It was hard work, and I think I'm physically fit (but 66 years old) with plenty of steep ups and downs that are heavy on the knees, but it was amazing and I can't recommend it enough. The reason I have only given 4 stars is because the driver wasn't setting off back until we gave him a 5 star rating that he could send to his boss, not good. But he did drive better on the way back, I think he slept whilst we walked.
