Yassir and his mom were amazing we talked a lot, and learned how to do the tajine. I really recommend this experience if you want to have a pleasant night!!☺️

Fun way to learn Moroccan culture - We really enjoyed this experience as a family…it was a wonderful way to learn more about Moroccan culture! Also my children said it was the best tangine they had in Morocco after eating tangine several times in restaurants. The family was so kind and friendly, including their fun daughter who taught my daughter several Moroccan music videos, lol. The mother only speaks Arabic but Yassir her son translated well. This got a bit awkward though when he left partway through to lead another tour. Overall, very fun!

Do it! - This was a very worthwhile experience. You are invited into the home of a Moroccan family. Not only do you get to cook and eat the most delicious tajine, you get to meet their lovely family and get a glimpse into how day-to-day cooking is done in a prviate kitchen. Yassir was upfront about the fact that we have to pay for the groceries oursevles. TBH I found the fact that we picked out and paid for the things we needed served to enhance the authenticity of the whole experience. I would highly recommend this activity.

Amazing cooking demonstration in a traditional Moroccan home! - I decided to take this experience with Yassir and his delightful mother! It was one of the richest experiences I have enjoyed thus far! I had booked Yasir to be my guide in Chefchouan the day before and he provided an amazing tour. That was one of the main reasons I booked this experience. Everything exceeded my expectations, he met me at the entrance to a local hotel and we went through the market together gathering ingredients for the traditional chicken with lemon preservative tangine. Talking to the vendors, procuring the ingredients, and learning more about the Moroccan culture at every step of the way enhanced everything. We made several stops, first acquiring the vegetables for the tagine, then the traditional Moroccan seasonings, followed by the preserved lemons and olives, a local bakery for the bread, and finally locally sourced white meat chicken, which I had requested. One of the highlights was meeting a grandmother who made her way down from the rift mountains, selling fragrant, mint and other herbs! She was delightful and even sang for me! Next, we made our way to his family home. There his mother showed me along with Yassir translating how to prepare the traditional Moroccan mint tea. It was better than any version I had in a cafe. Next, she demonstrated how to assemble the tagine, letting me participate in any way I was comfortable, the addition of sweet potatoes elevated the dish even more. While the tagine cooked, Yassir and I enjoyed our tea on the terrace. After the tangine cooked, we enjoyed eating it's the traditional way, scooping up the meat and vegetables with the delicious bread. The flavor of the tagine was amazing, the breast meat was so tender and juicy, and all the vegetables together with the seasonings created an amazing flavor profile. Also, during this time Yasir's father, a local school teacher returned home and visited with me along with several of Yasir's siblings. The father also had a brought home a fish and vegetable dish that he insisted sharing as well. The hospitality was beyond amazing. I highly recommend this unique experience for anyone visiting Chefchouan!! If 100 Stars were a choice, I'd say it still wouldn't be enough for the amazing experience and hospitality. A must do if you visit Chefchouan!!

True culturally immersive experience - This was one of my favorite experiences in Morocco. I was met at the market by Yassir and then we proceeded to get the veggies and chicken (this was maybe 35 dirhams extra, not included in tour price) and then walked back to his family home where his mother provided the cooking lesson. Yassir translated for his mom. She started with demonstrating how to prepare the famous Moroccan mint tea. Then Yassir and I enjoyed the tea with some cookies while his mom prepped some items for the tagine, e.g. clean the chicken and cut up some vegetables. She then showed me how to prepare the tagine. I was amazed how she did all the chopping (onion, tomato, herbs) directly into the tagine without a cutting board! The tagine was delicious and rivaled some of the best restaurant tagine I’ve had. It was great to be welcomed in an authentic home environment experience. Yassir is one of 11 children and I think I met 6-7 of his siblings, youngest being just a little over a year old. This cooking class was also a great value, compared to more costly alternatives. Added bonus, their rooftop has great view of Chefchaouen. If you want an authentic and culturally immersive experience while learning how to make an iconic Moroccan dish and enjoy a delicious meal, I’d highly recommend booking this tour with Yassir.

Best Meal In Morocco and an Unforgettable Experience!! - This cooking class was truly the highlight of our two-week trip to Morocco. From the very beginning, it felt thoughtful, personal, and unforgettable. We met our hosts at a local produce market, where they guided us in selecting fresh vegetables for our tagine. Our group was mostly vegetarian, and they were incredibly accommodating, helping us choose ingredients that suited our preferences perfectly.
From the market, we walked back to their home, where we were warmly welcomed by their family. Meeting everyone was such a special part of the experience—it felt less like a class and more like being invited into someone’s home. We were greeted with tea and snacks and then shown how to prepare a vegetable tagine. While it wasn’t overly hands-on (we prepared one dish together), that suited us just fine and allowed us to relax, learn, and enjoy the process.
We started the meal with couscous, followed by the tagine we had made together—and it was, without question, the best meal we had during our entire time in Morocco. The food, the hospitality, and the sense of connection made this experience truly exceptional.
I would highly recommend this cooking class to anyone visiting Morocco. It’s authentic, welcoming, and absolutely unforgettable.

A wonderful and authentic moroccan cooking experience - This was such a lovely and genuine experience! We met the father at the local market, where we bought all the fresh ingredients for our meal. Afterward, we went to their family home, were welcomed with Moroccan tea, and even learned a few Arabic words.
Four of their children were home during our visit, which made the experience feel truly immersive — like being part of everyday Moroccan life rather than just a tourist activity. We spoke a bit of French, they spoke a bit of English, and with that mix we were able to communicate and understand each other easily.
We cooked together with the mother and the tajine we made was absolutely the best one we had in Morocco — such a delicious recipe! When you’re part of the preparation process, you really taste every ingredient more deeply and appreciate the food even more.
A small tip: make sure to book a few days in advance, since this is a real family with everyday commitments. We booked very last-minute, but luckily they were able to make it work for us.
Overall, a wonderful experience that we can highly recommend — warm people, authentic atmosphere, and incredible food.

A different experience - A different experience. Not as professional as other courses we have attended, but interesting and the cous cous was delicious. I found it strange that we had to pay for the purchase, but it is true that the course is cheap
