The north side showcases 18th and 19th-century classic West Indian architecture, with square-shaped, two-story buildings featuring balconies. Historically, shops occupied the ground floor, while shopkeepers lived above. Today, many of these historic buildings house duty-free shops. Visitors will have time to explore Main Street’s shops and restaurants.

Fort Christian, at sea level, was ideal for repelling attackers with cannon fire but lacked a good view of incoming ships.
