This exclusive tour combines well-known landmarks with hidden treasures, integrating Jewish history into the larger narrative of Charleston.
Participants will explore both renowned and lesser-known sites, including “Little Jerusalem” and two of America’s oldest synagogues: one, the oldest continuously used and the birthplace of Reform Judaism; the other, the country’s oldest active Orthodox Ashkenazi congregation. Additionally, visitors will discover the first Jewish-owned pharmacy in America, a brothel once managed by a Jewish woman, and residences and public spaces linked to merchants, leaders, and reformers.
