Beautiful Charleston. - Charleston is a beautiful historical town. I suggest doing a bus tour to see the local sights and part of town you wouldn’t normally walk too. The other advantage of doing a bus tour is to hear the stories and history of the area. It was great seeing the outer edges of Charleston. As for the town itself, it is easy to navigate and flat which has an advantage for someone with walking difficulties. The restaurants and food in the centre are fantastic. Loved my time there.

culture and cuisine - Great combination of history and food. I was worried that food might be unexciting but it was delicious and plentiful. BYOB was great for our big group. The history woven into the courses and menu items was extraordinary.

Highly recommend The Historic Table!!! - A very unique experience. I do not know of anywhere else that offers an experience like this. The atmosphere and storytelling was exceptional. My husband has taught history for 35 years and he walked away impressed that he learned things he had never heard before. The food was unique and the menu changes from time to time with different “themes”. Meeting and visiting with people from other parts of the country was also interesting and fun. We debated between this and a typical “food tour” where you travel from place to place. This was by far the better experience. Sitting around a table with new friends, tasting a variety of dishes from the past while learning about everything from customs, architecture, wars and dress- something we will remember for a long time!

Great food and history too! - This was a highlight of our trip to a Charleston! First we had a private visit to the South Carolina Historical Society Museum (in the fascinating ‘Fireproof Building’ designed by Robert Mills), then we went went upstairs to a table that was set as if we were transported back to the 1700/1800s. Our knowledgeable host, historian Mike Hebb, explained it all - from soup to Syllabub. We were completely entertained, filled with historical knowledge, and delighted by foods we were served. We highly recommend, and can’t wait to do it again on our next trip!

Mike Hebb is an enthusiastic and passionate speaker! - The memories of meals with friends and family are part of our DNA. Mike Hebb reminds us of this in these wonderful dinners. I enthusiastically recommend this dinner as a key Charleston experience. This review comes from someone who has been visiting Charleston since the mid-'90s and had a 35 year career in the wine and food business!

Delicious historical meal seasoned with history. - The dinner took Place at the Charleston historical museum. The host, John, greeted us dressed in period costume. He regaled us with history of the Charleston area, from early land grants to the late 19th century. He explained the history of our meal, the first cookbook author, a woman, and the meaning of our china and Madeira wine. John changes up the meals and history -I would go again!!!
