Throughly enjoyed our visit. The tour guide was great and so knowledgeable of the history of Berkeley and its many inhabitants. Loved the grounds and the view of the river. A wonderful experience.

The tour included much more than expected. it was part of the first settlements that are credited with the first thanksgiving of deliverance in this country, later massacred by the indigenous people the property was later obtained by the Harrison's that yield the 6th and 25th presidents. The history, tribulations, family traditions, famous persons that past the gates tell a grand story. The grounds keeping were great, particularly for the winter, and being allowed to wander made it more personal. The guide had many years of personal dealings with the family, and they had quite a tale, even to the sign of the declaration of independence and the price of giving their life, fortune, and sacred honor to our great nation, and the cost from the British sympathizers, such a Benedict Arnold's leading troops to burn their possessions... They hosted the first ten presidents, were hospitable to house travelers of the day, and were encamped by northern troops during the civil war. The family heirs still live modestly in the historical mansion. Lots to see, read, and see about our nations history...

Our tour guide was amazing! I retained so much of the history of the plantation and enjoyed it so much, I told all my coworkers about it.
