Such a beautiful way to see the mountains! - This is so much fun! I booked this tour with a friend and we both had a blast. The quads are very easy to navigate, and the guide gives you options for insurance if you have a fear of crashing before hand. Luckily they are very easy to maneuver. This tour probably isn’t the best if you have a fear of heights, as you really go up the mountain with some very narrow roads. The guide was very friendly and ensured we knew what we were doing before we began. We would recommend doing this with friends, maybe not young children.

Great tour - Friendly guide, fun way to see the island. Our kids, 11 and 14, had a fun time too! Some off roading but nothing difficult, even for a beginner. Thanks so much!

A great way to see more of the island - With your local guide you will motor on and off road, exploring the villages and olive groves around the Platanias region of Crete. You will stop to enjoy the views and swap drivers (if you're sharing a quad). Lovely stuff.

Safari with Beach Bums: Little water, lots of waiting and a potentially explosive fuel filling on purchase! - Related experience with ATV tour organized by Beach Bums The signatories recently participated in an ATV tour booked through Beach Bums, and wish to provide a structured account of the experience, including some factors that may be considered as deviating from the information presented prior to the activity. 1. Transport and Meeting We were picked up at the scheduled time at our hotel. The transport was carried out with a simple, older vehicle led by an extremely attentive and friendly guide. The transportation to Beach Bum’s premises went smoothly. 2. Waiting time and delay Upon arrival we were informed that one of the families to attend the trip had not yet arrived. This meant we had to wait in heat and sun for a longer period before the trip could start. According to the information published on Tripadvisor, the total tour should last approximately three hours. It should therefore be considered that this duration includes transportation, possible waiting and return. 3. Actual duration and completion of the tour The actual time spent on ATV driving amounted to just over two hours. This included a stop at a local gas station to refill fuel before returning, which appears to be inappropriately planned and potentially safety concerned. Especially when all the ATVs were on empty motion when filling was ongoing (explosion risk?) 4. Lack of included drinks In the marketing (TripAdvisor) it was explicitly stated that mineral water was included as part of the tour's content. However, this was not distributed after the trip. Given that a substantial part of the trip took place on dusty gravel roads, and that the participants were in tight column driving under warm conditions, lack of access to drinks must be considered a clearly negative factor. 5. Potential overbooking and logistical challenges According to information from the guide, the said family should have contacted Beach Bums only shortly before departure, after being called by a representative of the company. This may indicate that Beach Bums has overbooked and then tried to distribute participants on fewer vehicles than originally assumed. This appears to be unprofessional, although the situation was eventually resolved through polite dialogue between the participants. 6. Route and driving style The tour itself was beautiful and went through the center, up in mountainous areas and past olive groves and rural surroundings. However, the majority of the ride took place in a tight column and at a slow pace, which to a small extent provides a challenging experience for more experienced participants, but may be appropriate for beginners. 7. Guide's performance The guide was courteous and professional, apologizing for the waiting time of all participants. Summary and recommendations: Changes must be charged on short notice Long wait is possible The driving time itself may be shorter than indicated Filling up fuel on the road should be avoided and appears unprofessional with great risk! Mineral water, which was promised included, was not delivered Recommendation: Participants are advised to bring their own drinks, use appropriate sunscreen (such as sunglasses), and be flexible to any changes in the program.

Beautiful trip with troubled start - We were picked up at the hotel as agreed and driven to the organizer's premises. When we arrived, there were already four other people present, and it was ten minutes before the tour was to begin. Suddenly the driver informed us that the trip was overbooked, and that one of us who had booked a single vehicle had to make the reservation to double and have the driver sitting behind. It turned out that only our group had ordered individual vehicles, and we were therefore asked to give us one of our seats so that the driver could sit on. We pointed out that we had paid extra for individual vehicles precisely because we wanted to drive alone, and therefore asked for compensation. After a longer discussion and a meeting with the manager, we were finally refunded the price for one single place. Later, when the last four participants arrived, they told them that they had been called by the organizer just 15 minutes before the tour began, and were informed that there were vacancies if they wanted to join. However, we had booked the tour two days in advance, so it was clear that the manager knew there was no capacity for multiple participants without having to change a single booking to double. The tour lasted two hours and offered beautiful landscapes and varying speeds. All in all, it was a nice and experiential trip, despite the start.

ATV tour in fine terrain and landscapes - We were picked up at our hotel at the agreed time and place and we were transported to the base for the ATVs. When we arrived we were told from the guide that there had been a "double booking" and an extra family would come who then had to have 2 ATVs too. We were a family of 5 who had ordered 4 ATVs since we wanted the best possible experience of driving ourselves. This made it too few available ATVs. The guide offered us to drive the ATV he was supposed to have, for him to sit behind with one of us and direct the others. In addition we should get 10% discount to be helpful. This we think was a bad idea as it had become burdensome for the person who was to drive with a stranger in the back and also constantly receive messages about direction. We came with a suggestion that we could "give away" one of our ATVs against that we then get back the money for the one we "gived away". Now the boss had come into the picture, he wanted to first give us only a discount of 35 euros which is the difference between driving single and double ATV, this we found unreasonable and wanted the entire amount refunded for the ATV we "lost". After some discussion, we got it. When we met the last family who were the ones who had been double booked, it turned out that they had only accidentally registered on the day the drive was, and received a disclaimer to come on short notice from the head of the business. We had even booked 2 days in advance. It became clear that this was not a mistake with the system that made it a double booking, but rather a calculated risk from the manager that we others came to accept his proposal. After all, he tried to sell more ATVs than he had, give poor discounts to those who were flexible and save themselves with the idea that we would drive with the guide. This made the experience a sour start for us, but the boss arranged after all. So be aware of your rights if you book here, otherwise the trip would be easy, you could see beautiful nature and enjoy rural surroundings. The trip is perfect for those who have never driven an ATV before, but have some experience from before then the trip is a little too easy.
