You will discover the small beaches of Lazareta and hear about the history of the island that goes back to the Venetian period in 16th century. We will have time to enjoy swimming. The water is very clear and friendly and there are plenty of fishes to see underwater ! While you’re relaxing in the sun, you can enjoy the breathtaking view above the town, where the White Mountains open wide and big at the back.

DO THIS EXCURSION - My fiancé and I were on a cruise for our honeymoon through the Greek islands. We did not know much about Crete and booked this excursion to shake up the typical tour and ruin visit we had been doing. We could not be happier to choose this excursion. We can’t stop talking about the fun we had. Socrates runs this small business and was an amazing guide and instructor. We are larger people with average to lower than average athleticism but Socrates showed us how to use the paddle boards and made sure we were in call waters to practice standing. We then went to an Amazon island area of Lazaretta with great views of Crete. He takes pictures during our time so we don’t have to worry about dropping anything in the water. The water is the most stunning clear and turquoise I have ever seen. If you do not do this activity when you are in Crete, that needs to change!

Fun activity- highly recommended. - This was a great fun experience. We are a group of 4 ladies of average fitness and none of us had done paddle boarding before. Socrates was a fab instructor, he made sure we were all safe and having a good time. The sea was a bit choppy but we were still able to paddle to Lazaretta island for some snorkelling. The equipment was all new and high quality. We would highly recommend you give this a go.

What an experience! - We had an amazing time and cannot recommend this enough! Not only was the trip amazing (with us managing to see a turtle) but our guide, Socrates, was one of the loveliest people. He made us feel safe, calm and was so flexible and helpful when it came to a booking amendment we needed to make. Please, if it’s the only thing you do when you visit Chania, do this tour!

Would 100% do this again! Amazing - Socrates is the best and calm SUP instructor we came across. He guided us through the rough sea al the way to lazareta island. Be on the lookout for sea turtles because they are common there and they are often near the harbor area which you will also visit by SUP. Once on lazareta island you will have all the time you need to snorkel en take pictures. It’s a very secluded island and Socrates will give an island tour if you want! Would 100% do this again. Such an amazing experience!!
TIP: after or before your SUP experience, we recommend eating at the restaurant with the small blue chairs! (See picture)

SUP-tour - It was an amazing experience and we would 100% recommend doing this when in Chania! Socrates is a very nice teacher and guide. During our SUP-trip we even saw a giant sea turtle, which made it even more amazing!

Favorite tour! - Amazing tour! Socrates was such a fun guide. Paddle boarding was so much fun. The water was so calm and beautiful. We can’t say enough good things about this tour!

Perfect morning spent with great company! - Socrates is an excellent host and shows a true passion for being out on the water and having a good time! My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our private tour of Lazareta which was organised at very late notice (Socrates had no issue with me texting him at 1am, just 7 and a half hours before we were due out on the water!), communication had been great in the weeks leading up to our trip and I felt like we were friends before we had even met! The tour itself is fun for both inexperienced and experienced SUP'ers alike, taking you to some beautiful spots around Chania including the opportunity to snorkel off Lazareta which was both unexpected and amazing with plenty of fish to see! Thia combined with Socrates' excellent knowledge of the local area and humble, approachable personality made for the perfect morning! We can't thank him enough for the extra effort he went to to make sure we had a fun time out on the water! 11/10 would recommend, we've done other SUP tours on the island and would strongly recommend this tour over others, don't hesitate to book. Worth every euro and guaranteed to be a highlight of your holiday!

Unforgettable Experience - We had an unforgettable trip with Socrates. I would highly recommended this to anyone visiting Chania or nearby areas.
The trip started by us making our way down to the meeting point, we geared up and set off to paddle to the harbour. Myself and my friend attending the only two booked on the sessions and have paddle boarding experience which we informed Socrates about.
Once arriving at the harbour on our paddleboards we were fortunate enough to be joined by 3 huge turtles! It was an amazing sight and something we won’t ever forget. After this we continued to our paddle to the nearby island of Lazaretta, we had the beautiful island all to ourselves.
Once we have had arrived at the island Socrates gave us a bottle of water and small snack each to enjoy which was a lovely touch. We then spent some time exploring the water with snorkels and exploring the island with Socrates who was very knowledgeable about the history.
Originally we had booked an afternoon session but Socrates got in touch after looking at the tides and swells to suggest a move to the morning session. This was a great suggestion on his behalf to avoid the mounting swell and rough seas which arrived later in the day.
All in all, it was a fantastic experience. Which we would highly recommend to others.

🐢 - Socrates is an excellent paddle boarding instructor and a wonderful guide. On this excursion, you’ll hear a lot about the history of Crete and the Lazareta island. You’ll also get the opportunity to explore some of Crete’s fascinating wildlife - seeing the local turtle was a highlight for us. This trip is a must for your visit to Chania, and we couldn’t recommend it enough.

Sightseeing on the water - Fantastic! Walking distance from old town.
Socrates was a great guide and made cool pictures and videos of the SUP adventure. He is very passionate about the island and has many stories to tell. Definitely recommend his paddleboarding experience.
