• Old City - The evening begins with a ride on a tuk-tuk, the iconic transportation method in Thailand. The journey will take us through the old city, allowing us to appreciate the walled and moated cultural center. We’ll delve into the city’s rich history, learning about its time as the capital of the Lanna Kingdom, its occupation by the Burmese, and its eventual liberation with the assistance of the King of Thonburi.
• Wat Suan Dok - Our next stop is Wat Suan Dok, meaning ‘flower garden temple,’ named after its original location as a royal flower garden for a former Chiang Mai ruler. The temple is renowned for its numerous white chedis and a 48-meter golden pagoda in the Sri Lankan style. We’ll admire these stunning structures and learn about the sacred Buddha relic, believed to be Buddha’s shoulder bone, before moving on to our next destination.
• Wat Lok Molee - This temple, dating back to the 14th century, is among the city’s oldest and features a large restored chedi with a Buddha image. The chedi also houses the ashes of several Mengrai dynasty kings. Enjoy the teak wood pavilion and the Lanna-style viharn before we board the tuk-tuk to continue our journey.
