- Katas Raj Temples - The Katas Raj Temple is a significant Hindu temple located in the Chakwal district of Punjab, Pakistan. This historical and architectural treasure is dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva and has been in existence since the time of the Mahabharata. According to legend, when Shiva’s wife Satti passed away, his tears formed two sacred ponds—one in Ajmer, India, and the other at Katas/Ketas, which means “raining eyes” in Sanskrit. The abandoned temples, fort, bathhouses, and rest houses encircle a pool sacred to Shiva, attracting thousands of Hindus each April for ritual bathing. Most of the temples were constructed during the reign of Hindu kings over 900 years ago, with the earliest Katas Raj temples dating back to the latter half of the 6th century AD. The Pakistani government is actively working to preserve, protect, and restore this site. Visitors can experience a natural wonderland in Pakistan here.
