Its architecture and ambiance provide a glimpse into the Belle Époque era in the former capital of the Republic. Between 1912 and 1918, the patisserie’s salons were renovated with an Art Nouveau flair, featuring large crystal mirrors from Antwerp, framed by elegant friezes carved in jacaranda wood. The wooden furniture inside was crafted at the same time by artisan Antônio Borsoi.

• Paco Imperial - The tour will proceed to the Paço Imperial, a historic 18th-century building initially constructed as the residence for Rio de Janeiro’s governors. It later became the home of King Dom João VI of Portugal and the Emperors of Brazil, undergoing expansions in the 19th century. Today, it serves as a cultural center. Due to its historical and aesthetic significance, the Paço Imperial is regarded as the most important colonial civil building in Brazil.

The building’s adaptation project preserved the elegance of the columns, ornaments, and marble that ascends from the foyer via the stairs, along with the reworked dome over the rotunda.
• Real Gabinete Portugues Da Leitura - The tour will visit Rio’s most famous library, the Real Gabinete de Leitura Portuguesa, inaugurated by Princess Isabel in 1880 and ranked as the 4th most beautiful library in the world, among 20 positions, according to Time magazine.
