- Spiaggia Caldura - Known as “Kalura,” this beach is celebrated by experts for its unparalleled global features. Nestled in the “Calura” district of Cefalù, Sicily, it may be challenging to locate, but the journey is rewarding. Surrounded by typical Mediterranean flora, including succulents, prickly pears, and pine trees, the beach is set among uniquely shaped rocks. Just meters from the shore, striking stacks with distinctive shapes and colors stand out.
On clear days, the Aeolian Islands—Alicudi, Filicudi, Lipari, and Vulcano—are visible on the horizon. The water temperature is pleasantly warm, and throughout most of the summer, the water remains crystal clear, revealing the sandy bottom up to ten meters deep. It’s an ideal spot for snorkeling.

Bastione di Capo Marchiafava - This ancient defensive bastion of Cefalù, completed in 1642, features a polygonal shape with its tip extending towards the sea. It is the northernmost stronghold of the village’s fortification system. The name “Marchiafava” combines the Arabic “Marsa,” meaning port, and the Sicilian “favara,” indicating a spring. A water well has been documented here since 1546. From the Bastion’s viewpoint, one can enjoy a stunning vista. To the right, the “drunk rock” is visible, linked to a legend of a shipwrecked wine-laden vessel. Occasionally, the Aeolian Islands can be seen on the horizon, inspiring the saying: “When the island appears, either sirocco or mistral.”

Spiaggia della Vecchia Marina - The Old Port, or “Il Molo,” is a memorable highlight of a Cefalù holiday. It’s the perfect spot for capturing stunning photos of Cefalù, especially at sunset, with views of the Rocca, the coastline, and the Duomo’s peak.
At the Old Port, one feels transported back in time to an ancient fishing village where boats were once moored near homes on the sandy strip now frequented by sunbathing tourists. This beach is cherished by locals even before tourists, making it easy to encounter residents. Visitors can also explore the nearby pier for a swim, photos, or fish-watching from the dock.
- Lungomare Cristoforo Colombo - Known locally as “Lido Cefalù” or simply “Lungomare,” this beach is conveniently close to the town (officially Lungomare Giuseppe Giardina) and stretches nearly two kilometers.
The beach boasts fine sand and is accessible via several staircases along the road. It offers a mix of equipped beaches and free stretches, allowing visitors to choose whether to pay for services. It’s undoubtedly one of Sicily’s most beautiful beaches.
Being centrally located, the beach is surrounded by numerous bars, ice cream shops, restaurants, pizzerias, sandwich shops, and pubs, perfect for post-dinner enjoyment.
- Spiaggia di Mazzaforno - Located just three kilometers from Cefalù, Mazzaforno is a seaside resort named after its charming coves, featuring sandy or pebble beaches and an emerald and turquoise sea. Easily accessible from State Road 113 towards Palermo, following signs for Mazzaforno, near the Norman town.
The beach and sea are set against a landscape of vibrant colors, from the lush green mountains to the vivid stones, and the blue waters that deepen gradually, ideal for exploring the seabed, scuba diving, and snorkeling enthusiasts.
Though not as expansive as Cefalù’s long beach, Mazzaforno attracts tourists seeking relaxation or a summer tan. Small yet stunning.
