Starting from Palermo, travelers will arrive at the renowned Rifugio Sapienza, situated at 1920 meters above sea level, which serves as the final stop for vehicles. The Refuge features a well-stocked bar and shopping area for visitors, along with a spacious panoramic terrace offering a magnificent view.
- Taormina - The tour proceeds with a visit to Taormina, a highly frequented city on the island.
Strolling along Corso Umberto I, visitors will reach the Church of S. Agostino and Palazzo Ciampoli. Nearby are the Church of S. Caterina d’Alessandria, constructed from the remnants of an ancient Roman theater around the mid-17th century, the 13th-century Cathedral of S. Nicolò, and the Palazzo dei Duchi di S. Stefano from the Norman period.
A must-see is the Greek Theater or Ancient Theater, which is situated in a prime location offering views of Etna and the sea. This structure dates back to the 3rd century BC and, at its peak, could accommodate up to 4000 spectators on the steps of an arena with a diameter of 109 meters.
