As the train gently rolled into Catania, I felt a familiar thrill of anticipation. The rhythmic clatter of the wheels on the tracks had lulled me into a state of serene reflection, a reminder of the many journeys I had taken across Europe. This time, however, my destination was not a quaint village or a bustling city, but the majestic Mount Etna, a living testament to the power of nature.

The morning air was crisp as I was whisked away from my charming hotel, Habitat, by Andrea, our guide for the day. His Jeep was a cozy haven, and as we set off, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of camaraderie with my fellow travelers, all masked and eager for the adventure ahead. Andrea’s knowledge of Etna was as vast as the landscape itself, and his ability to switch seamlessly between Italian and English, peppered with delightful Cockney rhymes, was nothing short of impressive.
