- Catamarca Province - Set out early from San Miguel de Tucumán, heading south-west on National Route 38 towards Concepción. Here, we’ll take a brief 5 km detour eastward to explore Villa de Medinas, a town steeped in history, where we’ll admire the ancient church of the virgin de la Merced and the stone-paved main square. - Catamarca Province - Set out early from San Miguel de Tucumán, heading south-west on National Route 38 towards Concepción. Here, we’ll take a brief 5 km detour eastward to explore Villa de Medinas, a town steeped in history, where we’ll admire the ancient church of the virgin de la Merced and the stone-paved main square. Our journey continues to Aguilares, where we’ll visit the central plaza and the church of Nuestra Señora del Carmen, renowned for its replicas of the Sistine Chapel’s frescoes. Next, we’ll explore the legendary town of Santa Ana to see the historic estate of Clodomiro Hileret, a pioneer in the sugar industry and a key figure in the development of our province’s southern region. Our excursion concludes in the nearby city of San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca, where we’ll take in the sights of the main square, the cathedral, and the grotto of the Virgen del Valle.
