One recent review from January 2025 captures the essence of this adventure:
Just Do It! - Pick up at the cruise port was on time and easy! Thompson notified me on WhatsApp before I had even gotten out of the port building. Rafael drove the 1.5 hours to the nature trail and facilitated everything with the park guide. (The park fee is included.). The hike was steep and hot but well worth it. Luciano had a steady pace and provided a lot of information along the way. If you like to hike, just do it! (Reviewed at: 2025-01-20)
After conquering the Gros Piton, take a moment to relax and soak in the natural beauty of the island. The gentle winds and high UV index make it a perfect time to unwind and enjoy the stunning scenery.
Discover the Rainforest’s Hidden Gems
For those seeking a more immersive experience in nature, the Jacquot Trail Hike offers a breathtaking journey through the Castries Waterworks Forest Reserve. Available on May 4th from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, this hike takes you deep into the heart of St. Lucia’s oldest protected rainforest. Led by a naturalist guide, you’ll have the chance to explore the diverse ecosystem and learn about the island’s native vegetation.
As you traverse the trail, you’ll cross over ravines and creeks, surrounded by the vibrant colors and sounds of the rainforest. The opportunity to spot the island’s celebrated Jacquot parrot adds an extra layer of excitement to the adventure. A review from May 2023 highlights the unforgettable experience:
Fantastic experience - highly recommend - Fantastic experience. We were on a cruise ship but arranged the tour privately. Transfer from the port was well organised. Organisation of the site on arrival was excellent - lots of staff - all well trained and friendly. The cable car ride was fascinating - as we were taken through each of the levels of the rainforest - humming birds were amazing. Short trek through the forest was straight-forward and interesting. Junior our guide was great - told us so much about the plants / wildlife as travelled on the cable car and on the trek. And the zip wires - loved them! Never done it before but so well organised that just enjoyed every second. One of the highlights of our Caribbean cruise fortnight and highly recommend to anyone. (Reviewed at: 2023-03-15)
With the chance of rain increasing in the afternoon, this morning hike is the perfect way to start your day and experience the magic of the rainforest before the weather changes.
