Get a Real Morocco Experience by Casablanca Driver - We three arrived in Casablanca by cruise ship and took the ship’s shuttle service to the city center United Nations Square. We wanted a local guide and experience in our visit to Casablanca with a focus on Rabat. The modifiable tour through Luxury Navette was perfect. It was easy to meet up in the square with our driver Rachid. He spoke fluent English and guided us expertly through Casablanca to Rabat, 90 km and back. This drive allowed us to see the Moroccan countryside, as well. On the way to Rabat, we saw Casablanca’s highlights, including Rick’s Café and the Hassan Mosque. Rachid, who lives in Casablanca, a large, busy city with chaotic traffic, drove with expert skill, seamlessly handling heavy traffic and complex streets. He is easily one of the best drivers we had on the many excursions we have taken. In Rabat, we visited Chellah, a UNESCO World Heritage site whose origins date to a Phoenician trading settlement from around the 7th–6th century BC. The Romans later built the city of Sala Colonia here in the 1st century AD. In the 14th century, the Marinids, a Berber dynasty of North Africa, transformed Chellah into a royal necropolis, leaving behind tombs, gardens, and walls that survive today. Visitors can wander through peaceful ruins, admire medieval houses, and spot the white storks that nest atop the ancient structures. Next we visited Hassan Tower, one of Rabat’s most iconic landmarks. Construction began in 1195 under the Almohad ruler Yaqub al-Mansur and was intended to be the largest mosque in the world. When the sultan died, work stopped, leaving behind a striking 44-meter-high minaret and rows of unfinished stone columns that hint at the immense planned size. Located next to the tower, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V houses the tombs of King Mohammed V, who led Morocco to independence from France in 1956, and his son King Hassan II. The building is a stunning example of modern Moroccan architecture, featuring white marble, intricate zellij tilework, carved cedar ceilings, and a green tiled roof. Ceremonial guards in traditional uniforms add to the regal atmosphere. We finished our visit at the Kasbah of the Udayas, a 12th-century fortress overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and the Bou Regreg River. Its narrow streets are painted in white and bright blue hues, creating a charming and photogenic neighborhood. Rue Jamaa is the most famous alley, lined with flower pots and colorful doors. Originally a military fortress, the kasbah remains a quiet residential area with beautiful Mediterranean views, gardens, and seaside terraces. Overall, the combination of Rachid’s expert driving, knowledge of the area, the people, local charm, historic sites, coastal drive scenery (on the way back from Rabat we took the coast for a bit), and glimpses of the Moroccan countryside made our Casablanca and Rabat excursion an unforgettable experience.

Definitely see both Rabat and Casablanca. - We loved our tour with Younes yesterday. He was knowledgeable and entertaining. Seeing both Rabat and Casablanca was well worth it, especially with all the sites Younes took us to. Rabat has much to see and was a good contrast to Casablanca. He provided water and homemade pastries because we were starving and little time to stop! (Fantastic). He worked his magic and kept us away from crowds. We highly recommend this tour and Younes,

Casablanca and Rabat in the luxurious comfort of a VIP tour with Zaid - First class! Luxury VIP treatment from the start: Zaid picked us up early at our hotel in his spotless Mercedes. As the sun was rising we saw the great mosque glimmering and the day continued with the same magic. Zaid showed us his city with enthusiasm and essential tips (where to get the best pictures, where to do a leisurely stroll etc). We then drove to Rabat (1hr super smooth highway travel) and discovered a beautiful city with parks, palaces, more mosques and.. Chellah. (Do not miss Rabat!! It’s a must see.) By 6pm we were safely driven back to our hotel and Zaid delivered on all promised sites (and some). Book with him, you will not regret it.

Avoid - overpriced and racist - Our guide was terrible. He knew nothing about Rabat and only came into two sites with us the whole day. The rest of the time he just dropped us off at sites like a driver and not a guide. He also referred to Senegalese people as “dirty” and “unclean” and asked us to cross the road so we didn’t have to walk past them! Just horrible! The only reason I gave any stars is because we did go to the sites listed and I imagine with a different guide it could be good.

Book with Caution - From start to finish we didn't get the experience we even "booked" so it follows it wasn't what we "wanted" or "asked" for. I'm not going to write a long account disparaging the company as we expressed our disappointment and frustration to Younes on the day. He accepted we were correct as we had a printout of our booking and it didn't match what they were providing us with. They did their best to appease us and fulfil as much as possible but obviously it was very disappointing. No redress was offered, just apologies so we cut our losses, put it down to experience and returned to the Ship early at our request.

High risk to book as a cruise excursion - We booked this tour as it was slightly less expensive than the one from the cruise ship but unfortunately our ship was not able to dock due to the weather. No refund was possible through Viator because it was within 24 hours of the tour. Lesson learned, do not risk booking with Viator as a shore excursion as you are out of pocket if something occurs. Very disappointing all around.
