Chellah - Chellah is a medieval fortified Muslim necropolis and an ancient archaeological site in Rabat. The earliest evidence of the site’s occupation indicates that the Phoenicians established a trading emporium here in the first millennium BC. Later, it became the site of Sala Colonia, an ancient Roman colony in the province of Mauretania Tingitana, before being abandoned in Late Antiquity. In the late 13th century, the site was repurposed as a dynastic necropolis for the Marinid dynasty. By the mid-14th century, Marinid sultans had enclosed part of the site with new walls and constructed a religious complex inside to accompany their mausoleums. In the 15th century, the necropolis began to decline and suffered damage over the centuries due to earthquakes and looting. Archaeological excavations in the 20th century uncovered the remains of the ancient Roman town. Today, the site is a tourist attraction and has been part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2012.
Kasbah des Oudaias - Visit this wonderful kasbah, which offers an amazing view of the ocean. The Great Gate of the Kasbah (Bab Oudaya) is also known as Bab Oudaia (“Udaya Gate”) or Bab al-Kbir (“Great Gate”). It was constructed by the Almohad caliph Ya’qub al-Mansur between 1195 and 1199, inserted into the previous walls of the kasbah built by Abd al-Mu’min around 1150. The Kasbah of the Udayas is located on a hill at the mouth of the Bou Regreg river, opposite Salé, and adjacent to the old medina of Rabat. It is listed, along with other sites in Rabat, as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Hassan Tower - The Hassan Tower is a notable landmark in Rabat, known for its historical significance and architectural beauty. It was intended to be the largest minaret in the world, but construction was halted in 1199. The tower, along with the nearby ruins of a mosque, is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Rabat Old Town - After exploring all the sights of Rabat, enjoy some free time in the old city. Have lunch before departing for Chefchaouen in the afternoon.
Half Day Guided Tour of Tangier - Asilah - Casablanca.
Tangier - Tangier, a Moroccan port on the Strait of Gibraltar, has served as a strategic gateway between Africa and Europe since Phoenician times. Its whitewashed hillside medina houses the Dar el Makhzen, a palace of the sultans now serving as a museum of Moroccan artifacts. The American Legation Museum, also in the medina, documents early diplomatic relations between the U.S. and Morocco in an 1821 Moorish-style former consulate. This area is one of the best places to visit in the city for atmosphere and photography. Tangier is also an excellent base for exploring the northern Atlantic Coast and the Mediterranean Coast. Return to Casablanca in the late afternoon.
Cap Spartel - Cape Spartel is located 14 kilometers west of Tangier, on the far northwest coast of Africa along the northern Atlantic coast of Morocco. Built in 1864 by Sultan Muhammad III, it stands about 1,000 feet above sea level at the entrance to the Strait of Gibraltar. It is considered a special place in Tangier because it connects the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, offering wonderful views next to the lighthouse, where visitors can take memorable photos.
Caves of Hercules - The Caves of Hercules are located below Cape Spartel and can be reached from Robinson Beach. Visitors can explore the legendary caves and enjoy the panoramic views. The cave has two openings, one to the sea and one to the land. The sea opening is known as “The Map of Africa” and is believed to have been created by the Phoenicians in the shape of Africa when viewed from the sea. There are also markings on the wall in the shape of eyes, said to be made by the Phoenicians, which form a map of the local area.
Asilah - Enjoy free time to visit this beautiful small city on the Atlantic Ocean, have lunch there, and then drive back to Casablanca, with drop-off in the evening at your accommodation or Casablanca airport.
