Arrival into Casablanca
Casablanca - Here We Go!
Upon arrival in Casablanca, a local representative will greet you on the tarmac and assist you through Customs and Immigration, ensuring a seamless experience without any queues. Our local representative will also provide your travel documents and thoroughly review your itinerary. You will enjoy a private transfer between your hotel and Casablanca’s international airport with an English-speaking driver. The travel time varies depending on your hotel’s location, taking up to one hour.
A Dazzling Drive (Rabat-the capital)
Rabat - An English-speaking driver will transport you from Casablanca to Fes. Along the way, enjoy a tour that includes a visit to the magnificent Hassan II Mosque, the second largest mosque in the world after the Al-Haram Mosque in Mecca, Saudi Arabia (entrance fee applies). Continue to Rabat, Morocco’s diplomatic and administrative capital. Visit the Royal Palace, a 14th-century Merinid necropolis, and stroll through the Andalusian Gardens within the Kasbah of the Oudaya. Next, travel to Meknes, the renowned Ismailia capital known for its 25-mile long city walls and numerous gates. Visit Bab Mansour, an impressive and intricately decorated gateway that now serves as a popular arts and crafts gallery. The marble columns here were sourced from the nearby Roman city of Volubilis. Also, explore the historic Royal stables, vibrant artisan markets, and the bustling Jewish quarter.
A Journey Back in Time (Fés-medina)
Fes - Meet your guide in the hotel lobby this morning and set out to explore Fes, the cultural and spiritual heart of Morocco. Known as Fes el Bali, this UNESCO World Heritage Site was founded in the 9th century and is home to the world’s oldest university, established in 859 CE. Fes reached its peak economic and cultural prominence during the 13th and 14th centuries under the Merinids, replacing Marrakesh as the kingdom’s capital. Although Rabat became the political capital in 1912, Fes has maintained its status as Morocco’s artisan hub. Workshops in the medina, hosting master craftsmen, remain as active today as they were centuries ago, significantly contributing to the city’s industrial economy. Trades such as blacksmithing, leatherworking, ceramics, silk weaving, and sculpting are still practiced, and you’ll witness this firsthand throughout the day.
A Change of Scenery (Merzouga Desert)
Merzouga Desert - Relax as a private vehicle driver and guide transfer you from Fes to Erfoud. Along the way, you’ll pass through a scenic cedar forest and cross the Middle Atlas Mountain range to the mineral-rich city of Midelt, where lunch will be collected. The journey continues through the dramatic Ziz Gorge, passing the ancient, holy city of Rissani. Here, you’ll find the ruins of Sijilmasa, a former capital and merchant stop for ancient caravan routes of the 8th century. After approximately 7 hours of travel, you’ll arrive in Erfoud. A 4x4 vehicle will be ready to take you to the dunes of Erg Chebbi, possibly the largest dunes in the Sahara Desert. These dunes are a striking natural formation, rising suddenly from the flattest terrain imaginable.
The Journey Continues to Skoura
Skoura - A 4x4 vehicle will transfer you back to Erfoud, where your private vehicle awaits for your onward journey. Travel today between Erfoud and Skoura with a private vehicle and driver. En route, you’ll stop in the Dades Gorge, located just southwest of Tinerhir. Experience the breathtaking grandeur of the massive canyon walls, reaching up to 900 feet high. A little northeast of the southern city of Ouarzazate lies the Dadas Valley, stretching between the peaks of the High Atlas and the Jbel Sarhro mountain range. Known as ‘The Valley of One Thousand Kasbahs,’ it is the most prominent of the oasis valleys dominating southern Morocco. Before reaching Ouarzazate, continue to Skoura, one of Morocco’s beautiful oases. Skoura offers travelers a chance to rest and enjoy the abundance of nature. From the road, it resembles a thin, long oasis.
Onward and Upward
Ouarzazate - Travel in a private vehicle with an English-speaking driver between Skoura and Marrakech. This route offers wonderful photo opportunities, including the UNESCO World Heritage Centre of Aït Benhaddou, where movies such as Gladiator and Jesus of Nazareth were filmed. Drive through the High Atlas Mountains, across the dramatic Tizi n’Tichka pass to Ouarzazate, a diverse Moroccan city home to around 40,000 residents. The focal point of this town is the long and wide Avenue Muhammed V, which begins just before the city starts and continues past the Kasbah of Tifoultoutte. Please note that the exact duration of today’s transfer will depend on the number of stops made along the way.
Strolling the Magical Streets (Marrakech)
Marrakech - The rich and dynamic history of Marrakech, an imperial capital in centuries past, is best appreciated with the help of a private guide. Begin your tour of the Ochre City with a visit to the Koutoubia Mosque. Constructed in the 12th century, it is renowned for its beautiful minaret, visible from nearly every approach to the city due to a long-standing ordinance that forbids any other building in the old city from rising above the height of a palm tree. After viewing the Koutoubia Mosque, visit the nearby El-Bahia Palace. Translated to English, El Bahia Palace means “Palace of Brilliance,” and this incredible, ornate, and meticulously crafted property boasts some of the finest ceramics in the country. This 19th-century palace was built over seven years for Ba Ahmed, the son of the Grand Vizier Si Moussa.
