Enjoy the most unique and surprisingly enjoyable excursions ever! - We had a great time experiencing the Lodo Volcano Mud Bath in just outside Cartagena! It is such a unique experience! We weren't sure if we would like it, but decided to try it because it was so out of the ordinary and I'm glad we did! Gilberto, our driver was so nice, and very informative on the hour plus drive there and back about different sites, and things taking place in and around Cartagena, and took really good care of us the entire time! Once we arrived at the mud volcano, he introduced us to the staff that would be taking care of us. They were instrumental in helping us in and out of the mud bath, making sure we were safe ascending and defending the volcano, and helping to wash the mud off of us down in the lagoon/lake. We even chose the option to have a massage inside the mud bath, and that was awesome! The guys did such a great job! Then after we were cleaned up and had changed clothes, we had a snack with tasty homemade beef and chicken empanadas and soft drink! It was a top notch experience from start to finish and I highly recommend you try this unique experience!

Unique and fun family activity - Our tour guide and driver were both fantastic. Took us from the cruise port through Cartagena to the mud volcano while explaining the history and the sites of the city around us. The mud volcano itself was such a unique experience. You have people massage you while you’re in the mud and help you carry your things around and then you have people down in the lake who wash you off. The tour guides were also fantastic as they helped us navigate the tipping culture for this area. Highly recommend the experience. The entire family had a blast.

Highlight of our Cartagena trip! - We had the absolute best experience with this tour! Gilberto was an amazing guide – so knowledgeable and fun, and we learned so much along the way. Everything was organized perfectly, from pickup to timing, and all the little details were thought out. The highlight was going early in the morning and having the mud volcano completely to ourselves — floating in the mud with no crowd around was surreal. We also loved the option for the massages, such a fun and memorable part of the experience! Truly unforgettable and one of the highlights of our trip to Cartagena. Highly recommend!

Best experience! - Amazing experience! So much better than going with other strangers and waiting in long lines. It was only my husband and I when we got there. Gilberto was our guide and handled everything for us. Told us what was going to happen and how much money to bring ahead of time for tips and he made everything so easy. HIGHLY recommend

A Muddy, Exciting Morning - This was a great and unique excursion. Something we had ever experienced. It is challenging physically to climb the steps and descend/climb out of the mud. So you need to be aware of that short, steep climb. The attendants take great care to assist. But once in the mud it was fun. The was massages were pleasant and hard to decline. The arapa snack afterwards were delicious. Our guide Anna Lucia was excellent. Friendly and knowledgeable. Again, a great tour.

Must see in Cartagena!!! - I think the best way to go for this tour is the private tour option and first thing in the morning! We were the first ones in the mud and enjoyed every minute of it. I appreciated the wash off in the lagoon followed by a yummy snack. Our guide Gilberto was great!

It’s ok - It was an interesting experience. Would not do again. Steps down super slippery and a bit dangerous. Bathers afterward were a bit rough. “Massage” was hmmm. Bit if you’ve never taken a mud bath it’s an experience.

Unique Experience - Very unique it was a bucket list experience. Everything was great but I didn’t give it a 5star because our driver acted like we didn’t exist. We road in silence while the had their own conversation.

Forced tip culture by tour guide - So I should start off saying, we absolutely loved the experience of the volcano. The reason I’m leaving such a low review was the service provided by the tour. To start off, I was expecting a little more engagement on the ride out there from a “bilingual” tour guide, but her English was pretty rough. It was a mostly silent ride. She told us on the way out there to expect to tip $25 to all the people (guy who takes photos, guy who holds your stuff, massage, and the lady that rinses you off). So it should’ve been $50 total for us. At the end of it she told us we needed to tip more, $40 total for each of us. And then she proceeded to count the money that we gave them and told us we weren’t tipping enough even though she gave different amounts in the car. To me, at $280 for two of us, the tour guide should be looking out for us with the locals and not the other way around. Plus, everything online says you only need to tip each person $2-$4, so the original amount she told us in the car was already more than what everything online says. I will say, getting there early before the crowds (8am) is amazing, you have the whole thing to yourself. But you could do this for far cheaper in a taxi or an uber
